Dates in Wikipedia articles

Two date formats are commonly used in Wikipedia articles: December 2, 2009 and 2 December 2009. These are referred to as alphanumeric dates. The first is used in articles with a connection to the United States, and the second in articles relating to most Commonwealth countries (although no preference is expressed for Canada). In articles with no particular national affiliation, to prevent needless edit warring, the established date format should not be changed. However any given article should use just one of the two formats consistently. Dates that are all numeric are highly discouraged to avoid confusion, however if used must be in the YYYY-MM-DD format and never in YYYY-DD-MM format.

Speedy deletion nomination of OKWAVE

edit

Hello Wise Bridges Fool Walls,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged OKWAVE for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Hi thanks for creating Masajirō Tazuke, which I’ve just reviewed. You’ll see that I have added a “translated” template to the article talk page. If you use material from articles in other language wikis please use this template so we have the proper attribution for copyright reasons. All the best and happy editing! Tezukayama Gakuin Elementary School moved to draftspace - unsourced

edit

An article you recently created, Tezukayama Gakuin Elementary School, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. DoubleGrazing (talk) 16:11, 18 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi — I've moved this to draft space, because the article was completely unsourced. You need to include reliable references to support each material statement in the article.
Moreover, you need to show sufficient coverage in independent secondary sources to establish the notability of the subject. Schools are not inherently notable, and are subject to the same requirements as any other organisation, per WP:ORG and/or WP:GNG. With no sources cited, and there being nothing to indicate that this school is otherwise particularly important or noteworthy, the only other alternative would have been to delete this article outright. Best, --DoubleGrazing (talk) 16:15, 18 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Alright, I'll see if I can find reliable references and independent secondary sources.

I would just like to say that I am struck by the difference in standards between English Wikipedia and Japanese Wikipedia. Within one day of creating the article “Tezukayama Gakuin Elementary School”, I have been put on notice to find citations and sources or see the article deleted after six months. In contrast to this, the article “帝塚山学院小学校” was created on August 12, 2006, but the article's history shows that no one even tried to get the article's creator to find citations and sources.

Here is the proof:

Japanese Wikipedia needs to raise its standards, if you ask me. Wise Bridges Fool Walls (talk) 14:11, 19 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

The English Wikipedia was first, and has many more editors than other language versions. This is why policies and standards are more robust than other versions. 331dot (talk) 14:13, 19 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Takashi Takano

edit

The article Takashi Takano has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Certainly accomplished, but not enough in-depth coverage about him to show he meets WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Jissen Women's University Junior College, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Booklet. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
