I checked, and you still have a GIF image of the 1914 logo--Media:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg. The PNG was deleted. Since we have the GIF, I don't think restoring the PNG is needed, but I do recommend using the Non-Free Uses Rationale Template, so the GIF doesn't get deleted as well. Retired Cubs Numbers

edit

Hi. I noticed your edit and 31 is not an official retired number, therefore, it should not be up. If you would like to leave it in the text portion of the section, feel free. But 31 does not fly at Wrigley Field and has not been officialy retired by the Cubs. Thanks. Rwhollywoodfan (talk) 00:45, 19 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I disagree. What you mentioned about the number not being retired is true, but the fact that the club officially had the number reserved in noteworthy enough to have it mentioned alongside the other numbers. It clearly stated Reserved and not Retired. If you have an issue with this, please discuss it on the articles talk page and voice your opinion there. I created those templates nearly a year ago and you are the first person to take issue with them, and I mean no disrespect but you are not a regular editor on this page, so I immediately reversed your previous edit.
By the way, the Jackie Robinson one looks very nice, but sadly does not look very good with the other templates so I will leave it how it is. That is, until an agreement is reached. The number will be retired sooner rather than later. I always welcome help on this article, but in the future discuss changes like this first. Thanks.Wjmummert (KA-BOOOOM!!!!) 04:07, 19 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ok fair enough. And that edit war was ridiculous by the way. Sorry about that. I understand what you are saying. Oh and hopefully 09 will be the year! Thanks again. Rwhollywoodfan (talk) 04:18, 19 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I agree with you there. Ever since Ryan came off Tommy John surgery, his arm has been held together by rubber-bands and paperclips. At the best, he has no more than three good seasons left in him before his arm breaks apart. Do not get me wrong, I still think he's a good player and great guy, but they should have tried offering the money/contract to a younger player. Whats up with Wood wanting a multi-year contract? He's a fuckin' millionaire and he wants a pricey multi-year contract? He belongs in a Cub uniform, and with an organization that he can trust. He should take a pay cut, and retire with the Cubs. --  StarScream1007  ►Talk  06:53, 19 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Senator-designate

edit

You article, "Senator-designate," is well-intentioned, but I merged it into United States Senate. It was just a two-sentence article without sources or references. It had no reason for being a separate and distinct article. I think it is better served redirecting readers to United States Senate. —Markles 11:39, 3 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

From what I can tell, the main thing you did was move section on qualifications above the one on the oath, which makes sense. You also fixed a quote template. Marquis only gave up the #21 a day or 2 earlier when he was dealt to Colorado. (A move that makes no sense unless they do end up with Peavy or another #1 starter, by the way.) I am not a big Sammy fan anymore, but seeing that he played in Chicago most of his career and was very good for a long time, he deserves his #21 to be flying on the foul poles, as does Gabby Hartnett, for that matter (Led us to 4 pennants in the 1930's).... RE:W Flag

edit

I was in Wrigleyville for the Cubs v. Reds game on Wednesday, and actually saw the 'W' Blackhawks shirt on sale from a street vender. I am not sure If it was licensed by either the Blackhawks or Cubs. There is no doubt that the tradition itself was borrowed from the Cubs Win flag, but I highly doubt it was started by the Blackhawks organization in an attempt to revitalize the hockey scene. I am not sure if it actually officially lisc'd - unless of course its on sale from the nhl/'hawks online shop.

If I recall correctly, the first hawks win flag surfaced around the early portion of the season - a black W with feathers, placed on white background. I am presuming ti was done by a season ticket holder, since its at every game, in the same spot. Nonetheless, the fact that blackhawks fans are using a similar flag should be mentioned in the article - though I kinda feel we should find a reference to make sure it stays in there.

Anywyas, I am doing great, I hope you are too. I am probably not going to be on much next week - finals. Glad to see you back. --  StarScream1007  ►Talk  18:03, 24 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of Chicago Cubs futility theories

edit

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Chicago Cubs futility theories. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chicago Cubs futility theories. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:10, 27 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Non-free rationale for File:MSSS.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:MSSS.jpg. Speedy deletion nomination of Buona Beef

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Buona Beef requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. TheLongTone (talk) 22:09, 24 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Regarding the message you left on my talk page: It would probably be best if you worked on this article in your own user space (for example User:Wjmummert/Buona Beef). That way you can improve it at your leisure without worrying about it being deleted again. When it's ready, it can be moved to main article space.
Also see WP:CORP. This restaurant will need significant coverage in more than just local sources for the article to be kept. ~Amatulić (talk) 15:58, 28 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thank you.... I am accustomed to my Chicagoland food articles being contested, and they have always passed. However, the sources will, of course be regional. It would be foolish to expect an USA today article on something that is not national. There are far less notable items on Wikipedia than this. BTW I have no association with any of the businesses I have added. Wjmummert (KA-BOOOOM!!!!) 16:05, 28 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Lou malnati product pix.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Lou malnati product pix.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 23:41, 12 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Your recent edits to the Chicago article

edit

Hey there, I noticed you recently added a substantial amount of uncited material to the Chicago article. I'm not trying to exert ownership of the article, but I've been working hard to get everything verifiable as we work to promote the article GA status. Anyway you could address this? Also adding edit summaries would be helpful to understand your intentions. More info on our goals on the talk page. Cheers — MusikAnimal talk 21:07, 13 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

I hope you're not offended that reverted your edits. They are in the history so not permanently gone. If there's anyway we could improve your contributions before applying them that would be best. Namely, what you stated as the origin of the nicknames conflicts with what the sources say on the List of nicknames for Chicago article. Let me know if I can help! — MusikAnimal talk 22:35, 13 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
I'm never offended by a revert, this is a hobby not my career so it's fine. I was not aware that a list of Chicago nicknames page existed. And keep in mind that there is always more than one source showing something slightly different. I try to keep mine credible. I thought the section needed some definition of the sections of the city to give a reader a clearer picture of WHY those names exist. As far as that goes I was interrupted by RL when sourcing that section thus I'm not surprised it was changed. I just do not understand why you would revert it instead of improve it, if you feel that it needed some sort of improvement. But either way, it's no big deal and none of my business. I am happy to tackle any projects you need help with, I will check out the page when RL allows me time. Wjmummert (KA-BOOOOM!!!!) 16:34, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Your userboxes

edit

Not to bash on you, but I had to point out that on your user page you claim you are a senior editor which you are not as that would require 24,000 edits over a course of 4 years. Strangely you insinuate this in the adjacent userbox where it says you have 6,500+ edits, yet that is also untrue, you are still under 6,000 edits. Anyways, none of my business really, the userbox I really care about is the one saying you're part of WikiProject Chicago. I'd love for you to help us out on the Chicago article. Just take a look at our To-Do List on the talk page and feel free to take a stab at anything, just make sure to cite sources and leave an edit summary. Thanks and cheers — MusikAnimal talk 03:00, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Mark Grace.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Mark Grace.jpg.

Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 22:36, 13 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Buona Beef

edit

The article Buona Beef has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A search for references failed to find significant coverage in reliable sources to comply with notability requirements. This included web searches for news coverage, books, and journals, which can be seen from the following links:
Buona Beefnews, books, scholar
Consequently, this article is about a subject that appears to lack sufficient notability. Please see the plain-language summary of our notability guidelines.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Non-free rationale for File:Golden Eagle CSU-Global.jpeg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Golden Eagle CSU-Global.jpeg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Copying within Wikipedia requires proper attribution

edit

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Chicago Cubs into History of the Chicago Cubs. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was moved, attribution is not required. It's also important to not only copy the prose, but to bring along the supporting citations. I have added the citations for you this time. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 19:58, 13 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Using "Indy farmland" in documentary

edit

Hi Wjmummert,

I am a filmmaker currently working on a documentary about the Appalachian Trail.

One section of my film is about how subdivisions of rural land made it important for the federal government to protect the Trail. I found your image "Indy farmland" from August 28, 2008, and think it would perfect to help illustrate this topic.

I see that you have released the image into the public domain, but, as a courtesy, I wanted to inform you. If there is a specific way you would like the image to be credited in the film, please let me know.

Speedy deletion nomination of Rosati's

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Rosati's requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Proposed deletion of This Old Cub

edit

The article This Old Cub has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced article, no proof of meeting WP:NFILM

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
