Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Woodschurch. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your circle, your organization, its competitors, projects or products;
  • instead propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. My name isnotdave (talk/contribs) 19:35, 20 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

  Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you.   Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, and I noticed that your username, "Woodschurch", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Jack Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please create a new account or request a change of username, by completing this form, that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Meters (talk) 22:58, 20 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

  Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Please stop removing the maintenance templates. You have done this at least 3 times now. Meters (talk) 02:52, 21 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

This is not a promotional webpage for your church, and you have a conflict of interest. Read the COI guidelines and please follow them, or you may end up being blocked. Suggest your changes on the article's talk page so that other editors can decide whether the edits are appropriate or not for the article. Furthermore:
  • Don't keep reinserting the white space I have removed. It either does not show up at all, or it varies depending on the device used to view the article. I assume you are adjusting it so it looks good with your combination of screen, window and font sizes, your choice of browser, etc.
  • Don't restore the promotional or non-neutral language that has been removed. See WP:PROMO and WP:POV.
  • Don't remove the maintenance templates unless the problems have been fixed.
  • Don't force images to a particular size. Many devices will not be able to display them properly. Even my full-sized monitor would not properly display one of the images you included. Meters (talk)

  Please do not add or change content without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you.  —SMALLJIM  19:26, 21 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

I think you need to stop editing the article for now and spend some time reading up our rules (see above). We also have a page where friendly editors provide advice to others: Wikipedia:Teahouse. Try it, you may find it helpful.  —SMALLJIM  19:40, 21 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Thank you.
