Greetings, and welcome to Wikipedia. While the updates to the Metro page are appreciated, you should be aware that Wikipedia has a policy against usernames that appear to be shared accounts, and we discourage the use of usernames that give the appearance that they are a representative of a company or other entity. Please see the username policy for details.
Also, while there's absolutely nothing wrong with the edits you have made thus far, we strongly advise caution when anyone edits pages about themselves, their companies or organizations, or any place where there is a potential conflict of interest involved.
I recommend either changing your username or creating a new account that follows our guidelines. If you have any questions, let me know. Thanks. --Finngall talk 23:58, 12 January 2009 (UTC) (from Eugene)
This kind of activity is considered spamming and is forbidden by Wikipedia policies. In addition, the use of a username like yours violates our username policy.
You may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below or emailing the administrator who blocked you.
Your reason should include your response to this issue and a new username you wish to adopt that does not violate our username policy (specifically, understand that accounts are for individuals, not companies or groups, and that your username should reflect this). Usernames that have already been taken are listed here. While your intentions may well have been wholly helpful, this constitutes a violation both of our "role account" and our "spam" rules; and the username itself is a violation of our restrictions on promotional names. --Orange Mike | Talk 04:25, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for your contributions!
editYour efforts to improve the language and links on Metro (Oregon regional government) are appreciated. The issue called out above is a mere technicality -- we have to take a pretty strong stand against usernames that are a web address, simply because a lot of people use such names as part of a spam campaign to promote their businesses, etc. It's pretty clear that was not your intent here; I'd encourage you to simply create a new account with a different name, and continue contributing. If you need guidance, feel free to contact me directly, or check out the WikiProject Oregon blog. (Also, Finegall's note about our conflict of interest guideline is relevant if you intend to contribute more actively, but you certainly haven't crossed any line in that regard.) Hope you continue helping us improve the encyclopedia! -Pete (talk) 20:12, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- I want to chime in to agree with Pete that we hope you'll join the project in your own persona (i.e., a new account in a name of your own, as an individual human editor) and continue to improve our articles anywhere that you can. We are sometimes procedure wonks, but all our little rules and procedures have solid reasons for their existence, maddening though they may be. (But, hey, you're in government, you know how that goes!) --Orange Mike | Talk 21:11, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
