Welcome to Wikipedia!

Welcome to Wikipedia, Xagent86! I'm Xinoph. I noticed that you were new and/or have yet to receive any messages so I just thought I'd pop in to say "hello". Wikipedia can be a little intimidating at first, since it's so big but we won't bite so Be Bold and get what you know down about U.S. politics! If you do make a mistake, that's fine, we'll assume good faith and just correct you: it'll take a few seconds maximum! Here, however, are a few links to get you started:

There are lots of policies and guidelines to get to grips with but they all make your life easier and your stay more fun in the long run. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Please be sure to sign your posts on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, along with a link to your user page. This way, others know when you left a message and how to find you. It's easier than having to type out your name, right? ;)

I hope you enjoy contributing to Wikipedia. We can use all the help we can get! Have a great time, all the best, au revoir and good luck!

Thank you for reverting the vandalism to my user page :-) ~ Kathryn NicDhàna 06:43, 12 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

No problem - hope you get a break from the vandals for a while at least. --Xagent86 (Talk | contribs) 07:14, 12 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for reverting the change to my userpage on February 14, and sorry I only just said so! Well spotted - I only just noticed that you'd done it myself! :) matt.smart talk/contribs 13:54, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Happy to help - I've had it done to mine a few times. --Xagent86 (Talk | contribs) 07:08, 4 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, the same book. I might revise the precise page numbers given though. Cheers. 4u1e 07:22, 11 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, I see you've already made some of the updates. --Xagent86 (Talk | contribs) 07:58, 11 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, the same book, as already confirmed by 4u1e above. Apologies for the delay in replying. DH85868993 12:52, 11 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I should be able to use Doug Nye's History of the Grand Prix car to flesh out and ref the 1979 - 1985 works F1 Alfa effort as well. On a (sort of) related note, you don't know of a good online reference for sports car racing (ideally 1960s - 1990s) do you? I'm interested in the context of Mario Andretti and Clay Regazzoni, both of whose articles could use some referencing in that department. Cheers. 4u1e 22:30, 11 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Re: Andretti and Regazzoni, I've been focusing more on articles on cars rather than drivers, but you might want to take a look at the Car Guides on QV500.com. In the Ferrari Guides they mention Andretti in the Ferrari 312 and 512 pages and Regazzoni is mentioned on some other pages. Try a google advanced search for Regazzoni using site:qv500.com. --Xagent86 (Talk | contribs) 05:58, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Intifada naming

edit

Hi Xagent, You raised a good point in your last comment, but I'm not sure that I agree to its application here, since it seems to me that an equally popular name not tied to either position exists - "Second Intifada". That its use is of an equal order of magnitude as "al Aqsa Intifada" appears to me to be plain based on the combined results of title searches of Google Scholar (68:62 (58+4)), Google Books (519:558), and the queries of major news providers, which makes further reference to plain Google title searches seem somewhat puzzling. That the position opposing a move to "Second Intifada" has integrated it into its counter proposals ("Al-Aqsa Intifada (Second Intifada)" etc.) suggests that others also appreciate these points to some extent. Regardless, I appreciate your enlightened comment. Cheers, TewfikTalk 07:54, 15 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

There is a mediation case that has been opened on the issue of the title of Al-Aqsa Intifada. Considering that you were involved in the discussion, you may be interested in participating; see here: [1]. Tiamut 17:01, 20 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Tewfik and Tiamut for your comments. I've been away from Wikipedia a while, hence the late reply. Tewfik - your links seem to point to posts on the Al-Aqsa Intifada talk page. If I remember rightly, these posts have already been somewhat discredited on the basis that some or most of those searches, did not restrict to searching the title, so the phase second intifada in page text or footnote would be given equal status as the article/book/page title. You need to use the title search.
For example, google books searches limited to the phrase in article titles:

The strength of many horses

edit

I'm told by Typ932 of a discussion you and he had on the Guiletta (old one) talk page about automobile horse power definitions. I've tried to spell out my understanding of the British approach on my talk page (final item). You might be interested to take a look. If you're sufficiently interested to think I might have misconstrued something, I'd be interested to be corrected! Regards Charles01 (talk) 18:44, 29 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for stopping by and leaving this comment about automotive horsepower. Yes, it's a confusing subject - since you have already started this discussion on your own talk page, I will leave a note there. Xagent86 (Talk | contribs) 01:08, 6 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

For actual article editing

  The Original Barnstar
At the Olympic Games, there is an influx of editors who edit articles shallowly, without doing the necessary updates to the article text. They categorically leave the real work to others. But this star goes to you for making the first actual update to a biography (namely Misleydis González) that I personally have seen during these Olympics. Nikon DSLR Template Vote

There is a discussion/vote you may be interested in taking place at Nikon DSLR template talk Regarding the format of the table and the information it displays. This vote has been prompted by discussion regarding the placement of the Nikon D3, Nikon D1/Nikon D2X and the Nikon D700. If you chose to vote, please familiarize yourself with the discussion and the Nikon system. If you can help out, great. If not, no worries. Thanks in advance. -Fcb981(talk:contribs) 18:01, 30 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.   Please do not add or change content, as you did at Green Light (Lorde song), without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Ireland's peaks do not automatically update at irishcharts.ie. You need to source the site you got the new peak from when a new peak is achieved until the information is shown at the link the singlechart template provides. Ss112 15:10, 24 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

No it hadn't, I checked it at the time. irma.ie had updated with the peaks then, not irishcharts.ie. You did this on a Friday. Irishcharts.ie never updates that quickly. Ss112 09:37, 15 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your concern, but I have the page watchlisted. Melodrama has stayed on the Australian charts since its release, and it will probably continue to be on there for a while, at least until the ARIA archive at aria.com.au updates. Ss112 09:37, 15 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
