editI'm glad to see someone else agrees with me! I don't think they serve much of a purpose, other than to make things unecessarily difficult, not to mention confusing. At the CfD I opened on these categories, a popular reason people had in favour of keeping them was "you only have to browse the sub-categories to see all these games - I do that anyway!". It seems to me that these editors don't seem to realise that Wikipedia isn't for people who have an intimate knowledge of the peculiarites of the category system, it's for everyone, and very few people who aren't regular editors will be familiar with any of this and will assume that certain entries are simply missing (as I did). Still, too many people like them to get the things deleted. Luckily we have the secondary categorization rule as a reason to add everything in them to the parent categories too. Seedbot is taking care of this - anything that gets added to one of these categories gets automatically added to the parent when the bot does one of its regular sweeps. OK, rant over! Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Puggsy wabbits world.png
editThanks for uploading Image:Puggsy wabbits world.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:32, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

- To clarify a little - even "a little friendly advice" in the context of a dispute can be viewed as referring to the Wikipedia guidelines. It would be nice to get on the RFC some review (to see that it's factual and reasonably neutral), and if you think that you've contributed toward trying to resolve the dispute, it would be nice to have you add your signature to one of the sections that's marked for that purpose Tedickey (talk) 10:06, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, I agree with what's there currently. The only problem is I'm still not sure which bit to sign - "Users certifying the basis for this dispute" or "Other users who endorse this summary"? And I'd have tried to sort this out sooner, but, very busy day yesterday, sorry :) Xmoogle (talk) 15:04, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Shortened-taskbar2.png)
editThanks for uploading File:Shortened-taskbar2.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 04:25, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
You should get some well-IR-filtered lasers
editIf you've never seen one or experimented with one, it's easy to think that all the effects you think you see from the 100-200 mW visible light, are from the visible light. They aren't. SBHarris 18:12, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
- I *have* some well filtered lasers. I also have diode lasers that don't have any IR used in the process at all. I do happen to be involved in the laser hobbyist community :) Xmoogle (talk) 18:29, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
File:Shortened-taskbar2.png listed for deletion
editA file that you uploaded or altered, File:Shortened-taskbar2.png, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Shortened-taskbar2.png
editA tag has been placed on File:Shortened-taskbar2.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Disambiguation link notification for October 4
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Symphony No. 25 (Mozart), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:18, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for edit
editThank you for adding the iZombie character to List of fictional astronauts, Xmoogle. I have moved the entry to the end of the "Apollo" section of the list, since the entries are sorted by subject matter (program, destination planet, etc.) as well as date, but the entry was fine otherwise. Much appreciated. Gildir (talk) 14:08, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
- You're quite welcome :D Honestly the layout of the page confused me almost as much as Wikipedia table formatting did hehe... took a looot of trial and error to get it to show up correctly. Took me back to my initial method of learning programming as a little girl - screwing around with source code and taking note of the results :) Xmoogle (talk) 21:56, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. I proposed deletion of Light (web browser)
editThe article Light (web browser) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
This stub article is about a browser (Firefox fork) that is not maintained since 2016. There are only three secondary sources and not enought material for the article.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
Human text below
Hello, I'm Anton.Bersh and I proposed deletion of article that you created Light (web browser). The article did not receive any meaningful improvements and did not grow beyond a 70-word stub you wrote. Also, the Light browser itself is apparently no longer maintained so it's probably the end of the road for both the browser and the article. Do you have any objections to the deletion? Do you have any interest in expanding the article? If so, let's talk on the talk page.
