Hi Yaelshamir, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like it here and decide to stay. Our intro page provides helpful information for new users—please check it out! If you have any questions, you can get help from experienced editors at the Teahouse. Happy editing! I've had to undo one of your edits on Shlomo Shamir; most of what you added was very good, but unfortunately the Arbitration Committee has placed restrictions in the topic area to prevent excessive back-and-forth editing. Don't be discouraged by this, I hope you continue improving the encyclopedia. HansVonStuttgart (talk) 08:43, 16 April 2024 (UTC)
- Dear Mr Von Stuttgart, Thank you for the message. I am unfamiliar with how the Wikipedia works and have no time to start learning all this. However, it pains me to note how much "re-writing" of history goes on. On the subject of Latrun I have much knowledge from 1st level sources the same is true of Colonel Marcus. Israel War of Independence took place in 1948. Those who mention 1947 as the start refer to the UN resolution of 29 November 1947 about the partition of Palestine. At that time there was no "War" as there was after May 1948. Let me know what you think please. regards. 2A00:23C8:5984:8A01:45DB:7E26:24C0:CA40 (talk) 08:55, 16 April 2024 (UTC)
- The link is a redirect to 1948 Palestine war. Would you like me to change the text to that? About your first-level knowledge, because of the verifiability policy Wikipedia is ony interested in what dispassionate reliable sources have to say about things. You're free to make edit requests that cite such sources, but we can't take your word for what is true. HansVonStuttgart (talk) 09:03, 16 April 2024 (UTC)
- I would like to change it to the "1948 Israel's War of Independence". I completely understand your position and support it which is why I already cited two books and can cite many articles and papers but can not do more than that. What would you suggest ? Thank you. 2A00:23C8:5984:8A01:45DB:7E26:24C0:CA40 (talk) 09:11, 16 April 2024 (UTC)
- The title of the main article is Palestine war because calling it the war of independence has been judged non-neutral. This has been discussed at length on its talk page, and debates about the name of the war should be in there. In short, the consensus seems to be this: the biased Arabic name is Nakba ("catastrophe"), the Israeli counterpart is the war of independence, and the neutral term is the Palestine war. I don't think discussing this further will be productive, so I will stop now. HansVonStuttgart (talk) 09:31, 16 April 2024 (UTC)

- This is a continuation to our discussion. Today I found out that it is not possible to add to the first opening para the words: "Commander of the 7th Brigade [Israel defence Forces] - is this "politically unacceptable". Also I wanted to add in the References - the books:
- 1. "The Battle for Jerusalem" S. Shamir, Translated from Hebrew and abridged by L. Susser. ISBN 965 219 020 9
- 2. "Latrun" R. Oren ISBN 965 7130 10 7 2A00:23C8:5984:8A01:1415:8652:DC24:5BE1 (talk) 08:03, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
