Fixya speedy delete
editPolicy on speedy delete is explained here WP:CSD. In general it is not to do with the subject as much to do with the article. If you try to re-write the article so that it makes appropriate statements of notability etc then it would qualify for a slower and more considered process. Existence of other articles which may also merit deletion is not relevant to the decision process: any article could potentially be tested against guidelines and deleted. New articles are more likely to be checked. Hope this helps. --BozMo talk 09:57, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- I have put the deleted article here for you User:Yaniv.bl/fixya. The person who tagged this for deletion entered a code of G11 meaning "Blatant advertising. Pages which exclusively promote a company, product, group, service or person and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Note that simply having a company, product, group, service or person as its subject does not qualify an article for this criterion. " however I also gave a deletion reason as "Unremarkable people, groups, companies and web content. An article about a real person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content that does not assert the importance or significance of its subject."
- If you want it to pass you have to include third part comment of Fixya and demonstrate it is notable in terms of being the subject of proper newspaper reviews etc. see also WP:N. Hope this helps --BozMo talk 10:36, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- I think you need to establish notbility next in your article. You can try without and I won't be the reviewing editor so you may get lucky but without some proper news items etc it looks unlikely to survive. --BozMo talk 13:52, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Write a new article
editThank you for experimenting with Wikipedia by creating the page Write a new article. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. NawlinWiki 13:27, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
To get a better understanding of why your article was deleted, please read WP:SPAM, WP:NOT, and WP:NOR. NawlinWiki 18:38, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
External links
editPlease read our policies, Wikipedia:External links, Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:Spam.
I'm assuming you are Fixya's CEO, Yaniv Ben Saadon. It is inappropriate for you to use Wikipedia to promote your website. If you honest think these links are relevant then suggest them on the appropriate Talk pages and leave it to other editors to add them to the articles. AlistairMcMillan 14:20, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
Would you mind telling us how you are related to Fixya? AlistairMcMillan 21:06, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- Not in public. Once I declared it, what difference would it make?
- I'm trying to stay as closely to the rules as possible. I'm sure I can contribute a lot with Fixya's content. Why not see this as a resource that can be used to improve Wikipedia. Fixya holds unique content of problems and solutions for consumer products. Just Google - "Sony troubleshooting", "Zenith Support", "Toshiba troubleshooting" or almost any brand with related search terms and Fixya will come in 1st or 2nd position. It's unique, top notch content. I'm certain wikipedia can be a better place with this information.I wouldn't bother otherwise.Yaniv.bl 05:52, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
Third opinion on Fixya links
editI note above that you have already had another person who considers the Fixya links spam; however, I have requested a neutral third opinion for the discussion at Talk:Technical support anyway. Please keep this page on your watchlist for their response. Thank you. Fourohfour 11:31, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on Fixya, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because it is an article about a certain website, blog, forum, or other web content that does not assert the importance or significance of that web location. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles, as well as notability guidelines for websites. Please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources which verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material, please affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page, and put a note on Talk:Fixya. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Thanks. Murderbike 09:18, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Fixya
editThe reason I nominated it, is because the article didn't give any information on what made this website special. There are millions of websites out there, not all of them are notable enough to be listed in an encyclopedia. Wikipedia is not a website index. And saying that there are less-notable websites with articles is not a good argument for keeping this one, it just means that more need to be deleted. If you want people to keep an article on this subject, you are going to have to show (with sources) that it is a notable website. Being ranked 7,000 by Alexa is not enough, nor is you thinking that they are "important" or a "Good doer". Those are just opinions when they aren't backed up by reliable sources. I wish you luck on getting this article to published status. You may want to try requesting the article. Cheers! Murderbike 18:11, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
- Well, like I said, sources is the most important thing. Find reliable third-party sources that talk about the article subject, and go from there. Good luck, Murderbike 15:31, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
