Some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Bluff City Backsliders may not be sufficiently well-known to merit articles of their own. The Wikipedia community welcomes newcomers. On Wikipedia, all users are entitled to a user page in which they can describe themselves, and this article's content may be incorporated into that page. However, to merit inclusion in the encyclopedia proper, a subject must be notable, with reference to reliable published sources. We encourage you to write or improve articles on notable subjects. -FisherQueen 19:51, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Notability

Have you read Wikipedia's notability guidelines for musicians? They will help you decide what musicians are notable enough to have Wikipedia articles, and how to make notability clear in the article. Of course, Wikipedia discourages people from creating articles about themselves or their business associates, so if you are the publisher for all these musicians, it would be wise to step aside- if a musician is truly notable, someone other than the publisher will create the article. -FisherQueen 20:09, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Hello to all Wikipedia Editors. We appreciate your review of our materials and the time you've taken to respond to them. We've been unable to determine how to communicate with you directly and so have posted here in an attempt to do so.

We, Yellow Dog Records, are the owners/publishers of all materials that we've added to Wikipedia and no copyright violations have taken place. Please rest easy on that account. We spent over an hour reading your materials trying to determine how to communicate that fact to you at the time of submission. One of our employees made the decision to come back to that effort "the next day", but your quick-acting deletions took effect before we could resume our attempts to contribute. Sadly, we are among a class of users who are unable to remain online, constantly monitoring their Wikipedia "Talk" page, 24x7 in order to respond immediately to your communications.

We appreciate your guidelines about Notability of subject matter. Widely-known media outlets such as The Wall St. Journal, The London Times, NPR's All Things Considered, the Chicago Sun-Times, and many more have considered our artists worthy of coverage in their publications, and we intuitively feel they are notable as well. The All Music Guide has found each of them to have sufficient notability for inclusion in their guide. However, we don't have the time to fully digest your multi-page discussion on the Notability topic, nor to risk our time contributing content that your editors may later delete if they judge it to be unworthy of your publication.

In summary, we have a great respect for Wikipedia and its aims, but we've concluded from this experience that the effort required to contribute is far too high. We will remain grateful users of your service. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Yellowdogrecords (talkcontribs)

Reply from an editor who tagged several of your articles for deletion

Each artist's notability is assessed separately- I know that there was one of the articles you posted in which I did see an assertion of notability (the artist was mentioned as having received several significant awards), and I didn't tag that article for deletion. If an artist has been reviewed by such significant media outlets, that would certainly be a claim for notability- but the articles didn't describe such reviews, that I saw.

All I know about the artists is what I read in these articles, which is a great deal about their styles, and lots of praise, but not much specific information about why they are significant or important artists. I reviewed many of these articles, and I don't remember reading any mention of reviews from NPR, Wall Street Journal, or the Sun-Times.

In general, Wikipedia discourages posting articles about your own company, though. If they truly are notable, other music fans will create articles about the musicians- articles created by the publisher tend to convey the impression that the publisher is the only one who has heard of the musician. When I see an article which is posted by the publisher, and which doesn't mention that the artist has achieved any of the marks of recognition cited by the music notability guidelines, I tag it for deletion on the assumption that it is one of the hundreds of high school musicians, garage bands, and musical self-promotions that are posted every day.

Reading these articles, I thought that you might be an exception- someone who had notable and interesting musicians to contribute but wasn't familiar enough with Wikipedia to create articles that would work here. I even left you a message pointing you to the resources you needed to save the articles from deletion. But you left a rather sarcastic response accusing me of browbeating you, and my attempt to help you save your articles went unnoticed.
