Lions cover photo credit
editThe credit on the photograph in question (at the link you provided) is "Ron Kimball/Kimballstock". It's apparent that Ron Kimball took the photograph, as other photographs on that site have credits like "Faith A. Uridel/Kimballstock" and "Mark Raycroft". Are you saying that because the photograph was for his stock photo company, "Ron Kimball Studios" did not produce the photograph? Two Hearted River (paddle / fish) 00:03, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
- Let's keep the discussion on one page. You said:
- Exactly, the shot was taken for his stock company Kimball Stock. This was/is a common practice by Ron Kimball through his career. He would take shots that could sell, rather than wait for assignments. Yimbos (talk) 00:15, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
- Let me amend what you wrote: The shot was taken by Ron Kimball Studios for his stock company Kimballstock. If you agree that this statement is true, the original credit is accurate. If you're going to assert that Ron Kimball Studios didn't take the photograph, we'll need a reliable source for that. (I don't know how familiar you are with Wikipedia policies. It seems you registered your account for the purpose of making this correction.) So in order to change the credit from "Ron Kimball Studios" to anything else, we need a citation. At the moment, we have the link you provided. That page credits "Ron Kimball/Kimballstock". I see nothing there that would lead me to infer that "Ron Kimball Studios" was an incorrect attribution in 2001 when the album was released. What I infer is that Ron Kimball, who performs his work under Ron Kimball Studios, took the photograph and then gave ownership of the work to Kimballstock. The band credited Ron Kimball Studios because that's what Kimball told them to do. It matters not who owned the photograph at the time or who owns it now. We have no reason to credit Kimballstock for this photo. Here's an analogy: The Black Crowes recorded Lions under a contract with V2 Records, which provided that V2 owns the recording. When writing an article on that album on Wikipedia, we attribute it to The Black Crowes and not V2. Two Hearted River (paddle / fish) 01:34, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
