Somebody removed all references to me being a rabbi or Breslov and reduced me to bei ng "a writer" -- plus they removed a lot of other stuff from this page about me. I reverted to an earlier version. I suspect this may have been malicious, given that I have had so many run-ins with the Na Nachers on this site, so discrediting me would likely be a tactic somebody would use to tgry and discredit my talk criticisms. (Check out the histyory to see the edits -- all mostly by the samer person who has NO info on thier ID page.) It is true that I was not ordained in Breslov but came to Rabbenu later. However, nobody has ever contested that I am a rabbi. Oddly enough, they also removed all references to my peace activist work, even though my book on Jewish nonviolence remains in the list of pubs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rooster613 (talk • contribs) 17:02, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
Country Yossi
Hi Yoninah: Thanks for coming over to the Country Yossi article and fixing up the the references I added and polishing it. I was working relatively quickly so I did the best I could with it, but you have now done hard work too to improve it. Thanks again, IZAK (talk) 17:37, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
Outline of Judaism
Hi Yoninah: Following a recent request at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Judaism#Outlines on religions for an Outline of Judaism for a series that already included Outline of Islam, Outline of Christianity, Outline of Buddhism, Outline of Hinduism, I then created and filled in Outline of Judaism as best I could. I looked over how some of the other "Outlines" were done, and then I took the Introduction directly from the Judaism article via cut and paste, and I then basically tried to use as many of the templates from Category:Jews and Judaism templates. It's a good start but can use improvement and polishing. Based on your knowledge and expertise could you please review it and improve it. Thanks, IZAK (talk) 15:07, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

DYK for Gabi (elephant)
On 11 November 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Gabi (elephant), which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the birth of Gabi (pictured with mother), the first elephant conceived in Israel through artificial insemination, was viewed live by over 350,000 people in 108 countries? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

In Jerusalem, most Breslov Hasidim are not affiliated with the Edah HaChareidis.
In Jerusalem, most Breslov Hasidim are not affiliated with the Edah HaChareidis. I live here and can tell you most of them are not affiliated. It is a very small percentage. Also, virtually zero of the Na Nach Breslov are affiliated. Go to Shavu Banim or Chut Shel Chessed in Jerusalem and ask people if you wish. I don't have a reference to prove a negative. Since there is not a reference with your statement, should it be removed since it has no source, is speculative, and it contentious?
אֶפְרָתָה (talk) 14:04, 17 November 2010 (UTC)אֶפְרָתָה
There certainly are people, just not the majority of Breslov in Jerusalem. There is just one Rabbi and some of his followers. Na Nach are not spun off from him, nor are Shavu Banim, their 10 institutions, or Chut Shel Chessed. I don't think that you be able to find a link so show that anyone, except 1 Breslov Rabbi out of all the Breslov Rabbi's in Jerusalem are affiliated. Rabbi Berland and Arush have a massively larger following in Jerusalem and they are not affiliated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by אֶפְרָתָה (talk • contribs) 14:19, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
DYK comment
Thanks for appraising me of the status of Karen Human Rights Group regarding its DYK nomination. Technically I did not nominate the article, only ask that reviewers excuse its tardy nomination if possible. I also advised the article creator not to be overly optimistic because of this criteria. Otherwise the remaining criteria should be applied with even hand. Where areas need attention, please advise the nominator, affording that opportunity to them for reconciliation. Again, thanks for also appraising me. Kind regards My76Strat 01:58, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Armin Maiwald DYK nomination
Hi, I was just about to send a further comment and my ALT4 hook when I got an edit conflict. I think this is important. Here's what I tried to send:
- Just thinking this over, the reason Maiwald never wanted to see the movie again was because it was his own childhood he was depicting, which of course, is mentioned in the article, but I think needs to be spelled out in the hook too, no? Coming in just under the wire with:
- ALT4: ... that after Armin Maiwald produced an award-winning children's film depicting his own childhood experience in the grim aftermath of postwar Germany, he said that he never wanted to see the film again? Marrante (talk) 20:27, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
- I just moved that nomination to Prep 2... I'll restore it so you can discuss. 28bytes (talk) 20:31, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
- I just left my new ALT4 on the template page with a revised comment. Do as you see best, I guess. Thanks for your patience. Marrante (talk) 20:42, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wasp Motorcycles
Hi Yoninah. SmartSE has withdrawn the deletion nomination for this since reliable sourcing has been provided. I was going to close the debate as "keep" but saw that you had a "delete" !vote and wanted to see if you still wished to delete the article. Thanks, 28bytes (talk) 13:35, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for your efforts on this article. I was about to give up on the DYK angle for it, so I am obliged to you for your kind attention. Cheers,
Perhaps it is wrong to use the heading "legend" for the steam-powered boats that traveled underwater. A bit like saying that Noah's ark was a legend, which would offend some people. I have moved this paragraph down into "Early history". The reader can make their own judgement about the source. Aymatth2 (talk) 12:59, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
- I have been tidying up redlinks in this article, and realize a lot more could be added on later history. See Port of Dhamara for example. I will not make any significant changes until it is out of DYK though. Aymatth2 (talk) 14:04, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

Help with Meshulam Dovid Soloveitchik article
Hi Yoninah: Could you please help out with the following request that I received, thanks. IZAK (talk) 08:20, 27 January 2011 (UTC):
"Meshulam Dovid Soloveitchik: Howdy. I've come across and appreciated your work on rabbinical biographies before, and in my usual process of trying to add sources to unreferenced biographies of living people I came across this article. I've been having some trouble finding reliable, secondary sources to verify/establish notability, although it sure looks like he would be independently notable with a bit of sourcing. I had been considering replacing the article with a redirect to Brisk_tradition_and_Soloveitchik_dynasty#Rabbi_Meshulam_Dovid_Soloveitchik, but when I noticed you'd been the original author, I figured I'd ask you if you could suggest/add something you consider appropriate and reliable first, so, any suggestions? References absolutely need not be in English, but I'm personally limited to reading English myself. Thanks in advance, --j⚛e deckertalk 20:41, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
- I'm making more progress after recognizing an alternate spelling, so feel free to pass on this if you wish, although sourcing improvements are always welcome. All the best, --j⚛e deckertalk 00:42, 27 January 2011 (UTC)"
- Sincere thanks to you both. --j⚛e deckertalk to me 20:54, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi! I noticed your work with the DYK process, and I wanted to let you know about the Wikipedia Ambassador Program, and specifically the role of Online Ambassador. We're looking for friendly Wikipedians who are good at reviewing articles and giving feedback to serve as mentors for students who are assigned to write for Wikipedia in their classes.
If that sounds like you and you're interested, I encourage you to take a look at the Online Ambassador guidelines; the "mentorship process" describes roughly what will be expected of mentors during the current term, which started in January and goes through early May. If that's something you want to do, please apply!
You can find instructions for applying at WP:ONLINE.
I hope to hear from you soon.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 01:39, 1 February 2011 (UTC)

Georgejdorner (talk) 22:34, 1 February 2011 (UTC)

DYK nomination of Isabella Girardeau, Elisabetta Pilotti-Schiavonetti
I don't mind if you go ahead and promote it. I'm actually considering removing the Grove Music Online ref as the Grove Dictionary of Opera Singers is actually available for viewing, at least in the USA, in Google Books and no subscription access is required by the viewer. I may keep both refs in. Either way, the hook is cited. Best.4meter4 (talk) 19:03, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

Leonard MacClain - thanks!
Most of all, I'd like to thank you for your help with my article Leonard MacClain. You significantly improved it, and I'm grateful. I do have a question about page numbering. You renumbered the page number for the Leader-Post reference (necessary for the DYK nomination) because that's the number that appears on the Google Books index. However, in print form (as seen at the top of the page) the original page number is 18. I've changed the reference back to page "18", but if this is incorrect insofar as Wiki citations are concerned, please let me know, and if so is there an official Wikipedia policy on this? Again, many thanks! 78.26 (talk) 22:38, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks again for all your help. I think it will have to stay at 3 articles linked from for now, I'm not sure how I would add this in to other articles without adding useless trivia to other pages. I might create a page for the "photona" instrument, but right now I only have the one source for it. Funny, this whole thing started because I picked up an LP record, and I'd never heard of the artist, so went to check Wikipedia and couldn't find anyting. Now I've been spending four days researching an artist that I've never heard (it's still in my "to listen to" pile.) Ain't intellectual curiosity grand! Anyway, your assistance has been valuable in the extreme. 78.26 (talk) 05:39, 22 February 2011 (UTC)

Hi Yoninah
Thank you for re editing the aboved named article that I have put on Wikipedia recently. Honestly you didn't have to do it.

By the way, thanks again and well wishes,

Ravel
I hope that I met your concern about the artist's info by moving it to the "recordings" section (the clarinet's, not the harpist's). It is only supporting anyway, two more refs left, and - as already said in a DYK discussion - even if the "reliability" of a source is questionable, a recording is a recording. I would not like to move these links to External links because the connection would get lost. - This was concerning the hook. For the article in general: I found it, and found the information about a piece of ten minutes quite stunning. Again, some sources support others, right? My preferred hook would be that this piece was among the few which the Melos was "made for", but I would have difficulties to say that and to reference it. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:40, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for your suggestion, reading ALT3 again made me rearrange it to ALT4, please improve! I'm going to write on the missing Melos violinist, however short, for fairness. Overlinking: I don't quite understand why you removed the links to the instruments when they appear first in the article but added them for the Melos players. I would understand not linking at all (these very common instruments, unusual only in the combination), or linking the first time.? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:08, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
- You are right, they appear in the bolded title. (I wonder if they are a true part of the title, not in French.) So the question is reduced to: do we have to link violin in an article on a composition? I guess that readers who got this far may know what a violin is, or know since they clicked on string quartet? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:38, 2 March 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your edits to the article.
