Articles for deletion nomination of Israel (nation)

edit

I have nominated Israel (nation), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Israel (nation). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Speedy deletion nomination of Israeli (nation)

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Israeli (nation), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article that does not provide sufficient context to identify its subject. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Proposed deletion of Michael Laitman

edit

The article Michael Laitman has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-neutral, promotional article which does not prove notability. Fails WP:ACADEMIC and WP:RS

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. andy (talk) 15:09, 15 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Michael Laitman

edit

A tag has been placed on Michael Laitman, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. andy (talk) 09:46, 16 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Michael Laitman article

edit

In reply to your question on its talk page, Michael Laitman was deleted because it was recreated after a discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Michael Laitman unanimously decided to delete it. All articles on Wikipedia must be written from a neutral point of view, and the subjects must be notable by our standards. Also once and article has been deleted as a result of a deletion discussion, it may not be recreated in the same form. The Laitman article was recreated so many times that the title is now protected to prevent use. The talk page has been deleted because it was dependent on the deleted article.

I understand that one or more pages you created on Russian Wikipedia have also been deleted. Was that also about Michael Laitman? If so, it may have been for the same reason it was deleted here. —teb728 t c 01:43, 17 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

No, they were not about Michael Laitman. Russian Wikipedia has page Michael Laitman and there are no problems with 'our standards' and repeated deletions due to some voting process (and I thought, you cannot vote for notability of public figures, they are either notable or not - it is not a question of opinion). There is also no problems with mass POV on what is NPOV. And 'notable' by Russian standards means the same as in English, am I wrong? Now, recreate the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yuri Kozharov (talkcontribs) 07:31, 17 March 2012‎ (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the link to ru:Михаэль Лайтман. I wasn't trying to discuss that page here, but I thought mentioning it might be helpful if that was the deletion you were complaining about at the Help desk.
In any case Russian Wikipedia and English Wikipedia are entirely separate projects with possibly separate standards; so the presence of an article on one indicates nothing about whether it should be on the other. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Michael Laitman for why it was deleted on English Wikipedia. Given that consensus decision and the fact that the title has been “salted” I couldn’t recreate the page even if I wanted to. —teb728 t c 08:42, 17 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Do not get me wrong, this is a good decision: I certainly would want to let any ignorant pothead (and I don't mean you, of course) write whatever it wants about Michael Laitman. However, did I heard correctly? I cannot recreate the page and no one can? "Mr Khruschev said, 'we will bury you', but we don't subscribe to this point of view?" (Sting) Yuri Kozharov
The page has been recreated so many times that they have protected the title so that ordinary mortals like you and I cannot create a page with that title. An admin would have the ability to create it, but his admin privileges might be taken away for ignoring the consensus to delete the article. On an article that does exist, an ignorant pothead could not write whatever they want. Like you and I they must comply with WP:NOT, WP:NPOV, WP:V, WP:RS, WP:NOR, WP:BLP, WP:NPA, and WP:AGF, and must obey copyright laws. —teb728 t c 09:55, 18 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:ARAVADESERTCONVENTION.JPG

edit

Thanks for uploading File:ARAVADESERTCONVENTION.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 21:05, 17 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:ARAVADESERTCONVENTION.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 22:17, 17 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:ARAVADESERTCONVENTION.JPG

edit

Thanks for uploading File:ARAVADESERTCONVENTION.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 22:18, 17 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

ARAVADESERTCONVENTION.JPG

edit

I will place the license tag immediately and provide other copyright info as soon as I receive it. Yuri Kozharov

Experimented with the tag and decided against its placing. Reason: it spoils the look of the article. Also, the copyright owner have not given me permission to release the image to the public under any of the licenses proposed by Wikipedia. At the same time, some other articles do not have any copyright tags. Also, the copyright information was already provided during the image upload. I consider the matter settled. Yuri Kozharov
You seem to misunderstand: The tag goes not in the article but on the file description page, i.e. File:ARAVADESERTCONVENTION.JPG. You did not provide the tag during the image upload; all you said then was "COPYRIGHT OWNED BY MICHAEL LAITMAN, PH.D. USED WITH PERMISSION." The required tag documents exactly what permission Laitman has granted. For example has he granted permission for use only on Wikipedia? (BTW, permission for use only on Wikipedia or only for non-commercial use is unacceptable and is grounds for immediate deletion.) It will take longer, but you also have the have Laitman submit the permission formally as described at WP:COPYREQ.
Do not consider the matter settled, or the photo will be deleted shortly. (You are fortuate that I happened to notice your post; ordinarily no one would have been looking for a reply to the warning message.) If you need further explanation, ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. —teb728 t c 09:18, 18 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
I provided the image with an information block. That doesn't eliminate the necessity of a tag and a permission email; it's just good thing for the image to have. —teb728 t c 10:02, 18 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I don't understand why many images are without the tag, but mine needs the tag. Permission email can be done.Yuri Kozharov
Where do you see an image without a tag? There may be some, but they get deleted pretty quickly. —teb728 t c 02:46, 19 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Adin Steinzalts. Delete fast as per Wikipedia policies. User:Yuri Kozharov
Are you referring to File:Rabbi Adin Even-Israel (Steinsaltz).JPG? It is tagged {{self|cc-by-sa-3.0}} since upload. —teb728 t c 03:01, 20 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi, please do not add PROD's on userpages. This is considered disruptive and may eventually lead to a block. Jarkeld (talk) 12:04, 18 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Is there another way to make a moderator read talk before deletion? How am I supposed to resurrect the article? Yuri Kozharov
You can ask the deleting admin to userfy the article so you can work on it some more before perhaps submitting it for AfC. Jarkeld (talk) 12:14, 18 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Is there another way to make a moderator read talk before deletion? How am I supposed to resurrect the article? Yuri Kozharov
There's a billion ways to proceed. However, before you do so, you need to reflect on the reasons behind the deletion, namely that there were zero third party reliable sources on the article. Proposing the deleting admin's userpage was a rather ridiculous thing to do - and was purely an attack. You also need to read the deletion process, because the deleting admin merely AGREED with someone else who had tagged it for deletion after reading the article and its talkpage. If you want to create a WP:USERSPACEDRAFT, do so - but read WP:FIRSTARTICLE and make sure it meets all of Wikipedia's requirements. I have even read the article and its talkpage, and 100% agree with the deletion (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 12:19, 18 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
It had one reliable source in talk. I don't care what you or some other mod agree on, this is not a democratic voting process, we're not electing a mayor. Criterias must be met and they were not met. Is there another way to make a moderator read talk before deletion? How am I supposed to resurrect the article? Yuri Kozharov
You're right: the criteria for this article to remain on Wikipedia were not met whatsoever. I can guarantee the deleting admin DID read the talkpage before deleting - even I read it post deletion, and still agree it MUST be deleted. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 13:54, 18 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
OK, I read more carefully (saw your hint at edit summary), although I don't understand what I should, and it seems to me that deletion of an article is subject not to the WIkipedia policies, but to the decision of the moderators. I still did not get answers on how I could resurrect the article. You seem to be answering own questions. Yuri Kozharov

Speedy deletion nomination of File:ARAVADESERTCONVENTION.JPG

edit

A tag has been placed on File:ARAVADESERTCONVENTION.JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Your recent editing history at David Irving shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
