Nomination of Itaril for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Itaril is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Itaril until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Catfish Jim & the soapdish 22:24, 25 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi Zachary, Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources covers the guidelines used to determine what qualifies as a reliable source. My personal feeling is that an official blog would tend towards being a reliable source, but others may disagree. There's one or two caveats though... any comments made by fans in response to a news piece are not reliable sources. Also, information that comes from a discussion forum on that site would not be considered reliable.

You might also want to consider WP:GNG. Coverage of a subject needs to be significant, i.e, it needs to be a lot more than a brief one sentence mention in an article. It needs to be in multiple reliable sources. The reliable sources also need to be independent of the subject (note that an official blog is not independent).

My thoughts are that you are fighting an uphill battle here, and that it is far too soon to have an article about a character that is little more than a rumour. Catfish Jim & the soapdish 07:06, 1 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your contributions. One of your recent contributions to Saoirse Ronan has been reverted or removed, because it contains speculative or unconfirmed information about a future event. Wikipedia has a policy called "Wikipedia is not a crystal ball", which discourages such edits. Please only add material about future events if it is verifiable, based on a reference to a reliable source. A movie which has not started filming is a future event. It does not exist yet and is not part of a filmography. Do not add until filming begins. Thank you. GcSwRhIc (talk) 22:22, 3 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Itaril

edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Itaril, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://the-hobbit-movie.com/2011/05/05/saoirse-ronan-will-not-play-the-role-of-itaril.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) Speedy deletion nomination of File:SOP still.jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:SOP still.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.   Please do not remove file deletion tags from file description pages on Wikipedia, as you did to File:SOP still.jpg, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 00:06, 5 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Ronanbledel.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Ronanbledel.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 00:08, 5 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
