Managing a conflict of interest

edit

Hello, Zacharywatt. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Jim Riswold, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 04:17, 31 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

the updated information is accurate and should not be censored by reverting it back to the outdated article. Zacharywatt (talk) 04:24, 31 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
You removed sourced content and replaced it with unsourced content, which was wrong to do. All information on Wikipedia has to be cited to reliable sources. Simply put, if something has not been previously published in a reliable source, it cannot exist on Wikipedia. Period. We do not want people adding in their own unpublished personal knowledge or experience (referred to here as original research), even if they know or believe it to be true. Verifiability, not truth is what is valued here.
If you are this person's colleague, then you should absolutely not be editing their article directly. Your personal/professional relationship creates a conflict of interest, impairing your ability to write about them from the required neutral point of view. If you have changes that you want to propose, then please learn the procedure to make edit requests which can be reviewed by independent editors. Remember that any changes you propose must be backed up by reliable sources, otherwise they will be rejected. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 18:17, 1 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
