The Periodic Table (Simon Basher book)

edit

Hi. I did some work cleaning up this article which you created -- you might want to take a look at what I did and see what you think.

Also, another editor had marked the article as a "proposed deletion" because he or she didn't think that the book was notable enough to deserve its own article. I've removed the "prod" (that's what it's called), as any editor but the creator of the article can do (the creator has to add a "hangon" template to show that he or she disagrees with the prod), but if the other editor really feels strongly about deleting the article, he or she can now nominate it for deletion. When that happens, it gets listed at Wikipedia:Articles for Deletion, and other editors have a chance to give their opinions on whether the article should be kept or not.

I wanted to let you know all this so you can be prepared if this happens. If you want to help make it possible for your article to stay, you should take a look at Wikipedia:Notability to see what the rules are about what is and isn't notable, and especially Wikipedia:Notability (books), which has the guidelines which are specific for books. Using this information, you can perhaps make a convincing argument for keeping the article. Just remember that the other editor isn't doing anything personal towards you, he or she is just trying to improve Wikipedia in their own way, so stay calm and if your article is nominated for deletion, make as persuasive an argument as you can for it, using the Wikipedia policy pages I've pointed you to. Good luck. Beyond My Ken (talk) 02:59, 19 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

I've dug up some reviews of the book, and some other sources as well, and added this information to the article. It i smy hope that this will be sufficient to keep it from being deleted. Beyond My Ken (talk) 03:53, 20 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of The Periodic Table (Simon Basher book)

edit

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is The Periodic Table (Simon Basher book). We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Periodic Table (Simon Basher book). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:08, 20 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks

edit

Thanks for editing and adding stuff too The Periodic Table (Simon Basher book), Beyond My Ken. I am a new user and know barely anything about editing Wikipedia. When I first read [The Periodic Table (Simon Basher book)]] I wanted to see if it was in a series, but couldn't find any info. on Wikipedia. --Zainia 00:55, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

No problem, and I know exactly what you mean -- a lot of the editing I do is triggered by my looking up something and finding that the article needs work, or, in your case, that it's not there at all! At this point, tt looks like the chances are good that the article will be kept, so that's good. The deletion discussion still has some more days to run, so we should keep our fingers crossed. Good news

edit

You'll be happy to hear that the discussion about whether your article should be deleted is now over, and the decision was that it will be kept! If you plan to make any other new articles, you should look at this one, in the condition it is now, as a model for the kinds of things that should go into an article. Best of luck with future editing on Wikipedia, and please don't hesitate to visit my talk page and leave a comment if you have a question or something you need assistance with. The navbox you added to the article...

edit

needs to be saved as a template, such as [[Template:Simon Basher Science]], and not added directly to the bottom of the article as you just did. Instead, make the navbox, save it as a template, and then to add the template to the article, you would put {{Simon Basher Science}} there. However, navboxes are meant to make it easier to navigate between articles, and since none of the other Simon Basher Science books have articles yet, it's too early to make a navbox. If you are planning to make those articles, that's fine, but don't create the navbox until you do. Best, Beyond My Ken (talk) 01:38, 7 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
