Starling Marte
editI think you're being a bit nitpicky. Every free agent is "pending a physical". The contract was signed, I watched it on TV. I put up the source, and you're trying to be difficult. Stop already Bluechip18 (talk) 23:04, 27 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Bluechip18: As I said in my edit summary, I would suggest that you read WP:SPORTSTRANS. Free agent agreements fall through all the time; that page even has an entire list of past ones which were reported by many sources at some point but ultimately did not result in the player being signed. The source which you provided is ESPN, and while they are generally considered a reliable source for most sports information, the standard practice here on Wikipedia is to wait until the team signing the player makes a direct and official announcement about it before listing that player as having signed with that team. So far, the Mets have not officially announced the signing of Marte. --Zander251 (talk) 23:14, 27 November 2021 (UTC)
Curious, I see Escobar and Scherzer and now up and running on Wiki listed with the Mets. Did they pass the physicals? Not to my knowledge, howcome you didn't take those articles down? Please advise. Bluechip18 (talk) 22:59, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Bluechip18: Yes, Scherzer and Escobar have passed their physicals and the Mets have officially announced that they've signed them, so their pages have now been updated. However, both of those signings were not officially announced until earlier today, and Marte's signing was not officially announced until last night, so it would have been premature to update any of those player's pages prior to that. --Zander251 (talk) 03:13, 2 December 2021 (UTC)
@Zander251 curious, where did you see they passed their physicals? Bluechip18 (talk) 04:53, 2 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Bluechip18: The Mets' verified Twitter account posted tweets announcing all of the signings, and all of them are now listed on the Mets' depth chart, as well. Also, Marte's and Scherzer's articles both contain references in the "New York Mets" section which are links to MLB.com articles saying that the signings are now official. These are the kinds of direct sources that we need before we update a player's team information.
- By the way, as a side note, just putting an @ symbol before someone's username doesn't send them a notification that you mentioned them; you have to use the template {{re}} with their username for that. However, users are automatically notified about new comments on their own talk page whether their username is mentioned or not, so you don't actually need to do that when you're replying to someone on their own talk page. --Zander251 (talk) 05:46, 2 December 2021 (UTC)
I believe we could go round and round over this, and at the end of the day, nothing I did broke protocol. So why did you @ me then? Come on man, life's too short- get over it Bluechip18 (talk)
- @Bluechip18: Frankly, I have no desire to go "round and round over this." You're not under any obligation (and never have been) to reply to any of the responses that I've made to you here, but since you've continued replying with new questions, I've continued replying to you as a courtesy in order to answer those questions.
- Sure, there are definitely things on Wikipedia that are a much bigger deal than inserting information about a sports transaction before the team officially announces it. But that doesn't mean that WP:SPORTSTRANS can be ignored just because it might not be a binding policy. As I mentioned before, that page lists plenty of examples of past sports transactions that were widely reported only to eventually fall through and not be completed, which is why the standard practice on Wikipedia is to wait for an official announcement from the team(s) involved in the transaction before changing the team information of the player(s) involved. It's not a big deal that you made a mistake once by changing Marte's article before the Mets officially announced signing him; just be more careful not to do it again in the future with other players.
- Also, I've been using the {{re}} template when replying to you here so that you get a notification that I replied to you, because you otherwise wouldn't get a notification and you wouldn't know whether I replied to you or not unless you manually came back to my talk page to check. And I'm not really sure what you're telling me to "get over." --Zander251 (talk) 06:46, 2 December 2021 (UTC)

7 years ago today
editHey Zander! This is lmnodogsuphomie101 and today is the 7th anniversary of the Carlos Gomez/Wilmer Flores trade incident— a day that changed my life. I truly believe our meeting was set up by God because I was brought much closer to him following our encounter. I was a frustrated teenager going through problems at the time and our encounter changed my life for the better. I’m currently in college and life’s going really well. I’ve been thinking about you a lot over the last 7 years and frequently check your Wikipedia and redit pages. I know that sounds creepy, but you truly have my admiration. Your faith and dedication is something that I strive to replicate in my daily life. I currently continue to edit Wikipedia every once and a while under another account (can’t same the name for risk of being banned). I noticed you converted to Eastern Orthodox and I’m wondering what caused you to switch to that from non-denominational? I currently attend a non-denominational church and believe the Bible should be the center of everything. Anyways, I just wanted to check in on you and let you know I’m still thinking and pray about you. You will never know how our encounter 7 years ago impacted my life, but I thank you for all you’ve done.
God bless, Lmnodogsuphomie101 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.141.57.153 (talk) 04:01, 30 July 2022 (UTC)
