Please don't blank AfD pages
editPlease do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages. The notices and comments are needed to establish community consensus about the status of an article, and removing them is considered vandalism. If you oppose the deletion of an article, you may comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. I refer to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PokeRealm, where I have reverted your recent changes. PokeRealm
editThe problem is we also have a speedy deletion criterion that says that an article which contains nothing but a title an an external link should be speedily deleted. Another editor has already tagged PokeRealm for deletion under that criterion. Basicallly, we either need a real artilce about a notable web site, or no article at all. Perhaps this site could be mentioned in the Pokemon article, or in some related article about online pokemon. Please unerstand that this isn't personal. Wikipedia has developed soem rather complex standards for what should and should not be included, and procedures to delete articles that don't seem to belong. But no one thinks that a newcommer to the project should be expected to understand all those standards right away. You might want to read what wikipedia is not.DES (talk) 17:20, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
I see, thank you. However, I'd like to point out that Smogon has their own blank page. http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smogon - so will PokeRealm get one like that? A blank link? Zeroality 21:35, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
- The page Smogon is what is known as a "redirect". In genral when there is al alternante name for soemthing, or a related topic more fully covered on another page, a redirect can be made. This is dome by editing a page and making its full contents be: #REDIRECT [[AnotherPage]] (For "AnotherPage" substitute the name of the page that the redirect is to point to. If you want to convert PokeRealm into a redirect to another articel, i have no objection. I', not sure just which pokemon-related areticel would be the best target -- it realy should be a page wich mentions PokeRealm at least briefly, if any article does so. PokeRealm 2
editCopied from User talk:DESiegel):
Hope I'm doing this right. Anyway, you contacted me about deleting PokeRealm's entry and that's fine with me. I wasn't aware of Wikipedia's rules on the issue. However, I do have a problem. A rival website which is searchable under Smogon has their page listed. There's no article but they are listed as a link. How can I get that done for PokeRealm as well? Thanks. Zeroality 06:16, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- See Wikipedia:External links. Basically, likes which add significant encyclopedic content or which will be sueful to readers should be added, others should not. If you honestly think a particular link would be useful in a perticluar artilce, you may add it. If others disagree they cna remove it again. Or you can suggest addign a link on the talk page of the articel in question and see what people think there. But you should add a link only if you honestly think it will help readers of wikipedia, not because you think it will help the site being linked to. DES (talk) 15:35, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
waardenburg syndrome
editHi there, I'd just like to compliment you for taking the initiative to create the stub on Waardenburg Syndrome. Unfortunately, it turns out we already have a fairly well-established article (Waardenburg syndrome - see the difference capitalisation makes!) If you don't mind, I've blanked the page and turned it into a redirect to the old article. I hope you understand.
