Tentative plan: As of now, the plan for our final project is to enhance the Wikipedia page of George Otto Gey. The current information listed on his personal page is his upbringing and his death. Gey was a man wish incredible medical advances at Johns Hopkins Medicine and we plan on updating his page to account in full details his contributions to our medical society. Some sources Megan and I may use include the JHMI Medical Archives, stories involving him and Henrietta Lacks, and archived information on his research powered by the NIH.

George Otto Gey review

So far, I think in the article there is a very strong section on his early life, so that will not need much work. In fact, it is unusually strong for a short article. But, there are no sources in that section. Well, very few. Either way, sources are desperately needed in that section. Even for the last sentence of that first paragraph on early life, just citing the Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks would work well. Again the second paragraph there is strong, but again needs citations. The content could also be greatly expanded upon. I think it would be good to explore what he exactly did with the HeLa cells and what part he had in that series of events, throughout the whole thing. Not just taking the cells but when the cells started spreading what he did to help that spread. The book would be a good resource. Also expanding on the second part of his research and seeing if there is any other research he did. I think he did research with the HeLa cells, so maybe detailing what that research was would be interesting. There is also a very, very short intro paragraph which could be expanded, as well as a greater paragraph on death and legacy. The article also never actually states what his occupation was, so it would be good to include more on his role at Hopkins. Back to sources, I know I mentioned the Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, but actually diversifying the sources used would definitely be good. The only two sources are both written by Rebecca Skloot, the author of the HeLa book. So, having only her point of view is very one sided. So, maybe finding a biography on Gey would be a good source. The article does mention the Alan Mason Chesney Archives The structure is good so far, but when the article is expanded it is important that the structure stays good as more sections on different parts of his life are added. I think that the biography section in the original article already has some good facts. Once you find more information from other reliable sources, you could even split the biography section into different parts, such as early life/childhood, education, career at Hopkins, etc. That will help the article flow in a more organized manner. I also think that another section that can stand on its own would be about his discoveries and inventions. It can include information about the propagation of the HeLa cell line and his creation, the roller drum. It would also be interesting to add a separate section about the controversy and ethical difficulties that arose due to Gey's cultivation of the HeLa cell line. You can add specific quotes/criticisms that either support or disapprove his actions regarding the HeLa cell line. The section in the original article about his death can also be further expanded. Some of the sources mentioned in the "further reading" section state that Gey wanted to create an immortal cell line from his pancreatic tumor as well. However, when this couldn't happen, he gave himself over to test a new chemo drug hoping that his suffering will somehow benefit the community. The previous peer review has already mentioned the lack of sources in the original article, and I agree that you should definitely try to add more reliable sources. You can also add a list of Gey's publications at the end of the article.
