Indian Air Force

edit

Please provide a source for you edits in the Indian air Force aircraft inventorary. currently India has a confirmed 124 Mig-Bison. I havent found any infomation on any other Mig-Variants currenrly active in the Indian Air Force!

I do know the IAF has been scrapping many Mig-21s for many years now as the Mig-21 is very old and obsolete Rademire (talk) 16:43, 15 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Indian air force

edit

Dude, thanks for your edit, I cheaked the sources and agree with the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 Fulcrum source, however I dont agree with the Mirage source as it only syas 40 mirage were inducted in the 1980s and a further 20 were inducted later. How ever some of those aircraft have scince been scraped due to the aircrafts old age. I revterted the edit. Rademire (talk) 18:34, 26 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

The source that is already on the list. Mirage is an old aircraft, its impossable to keep them flying becuase they get so old. when they get old the airforce takes their valuable parts and scraps the rest of the aircraft Rademire (talk) 09:07, 27 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Aircraft in the IAF

edit

Hey there,

I noticed you did make a few changes to the sourced aircraft numbers. I would only request you don't drastically alter service numbers as I think it makes the article less accurate. While MilAviaPress isn't the most reliable source, both User:Recon.Army and I agree that we should keep most of the numbers in line with the MilAviaPress IAF Orbat listing so that there is some consistency. Thanks, Vedant (talk) 23:48, 19 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Unless its a huge change in service numbers, I think it's best to leave the primary reference as MilAviaPress. Newspapers may or may not be more reliable but listing multiple sources detracts from the accuracy of the article. It then just becomes a rough guess. The best solution is to wait until MilAviaPress updates their information or refer to another source like this.Vedant (talk) 18:47, 20 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
Please look at the following articles:
If you'll note that aside from a few of the service numbers, the majority of them are from one source. This is done to ensure that there is some common standard by which aircraft are judged as in service or not. Also, see this section as to why it's not good to source numbers from numerous sources [1]. Vedant (talk) 04:18, 24 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
