It would please me greatly to visit Cuba

I would very much like to visit Cuba. I believe that it should be possible for me to get a license to visit Cuba, since the US State department website says that it is possible to get permission for:

>"Humanitarian Projects and Support for the Cuban People – 1) Persons traveling in connection with activities that are intended to >provide support for the Cuban people, such as activities of recognized human rights organizations. 2) Persons whose travel >transactions are directly related to certain humanitarian projects in or related to Cuba that are designed to directly benefit the >Cuban people. Licenses authorizing transactions for multiple trips over an extended period of time are available."

Wikipedia is absolutely a humanitarian project, and my travel would be directly related to projects directly related to our overall efforts to benefit the Cuban people (and all the people of the world).

It would help me in my efforts if I could get a specific invitation to come and give a talk at your university, preferably sometime next fall... at least 6 months from now, so as to give time to make arrangements with the US government. If you will email me, I would love to discuss this. Perhaps you could also help me find other Cuban wikipedians, so as to get a group organized there.--Jimbo Wales 18:47, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Havana images

I mentioned it in Talk:Havana#Photos, it's very tempting to overload an article such as Havana with images. Fact is, the link to the commons media gallery should be enough for people looking for images, and only pictures related to the content of the article should be kept (remember, this is an encyclopedic entry, not a showcase). As such, the article has photos that illustrate the text, and information contained therein is more important than the sheer beauthy of images. There is still much room for improvement in the Havana article, you are right about that. Thanks for your understanding. --Qyd 16:14, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

También me suscribí a las listas de Software Libre, pero tengo que empezar de 0, ya que nunca he trabajado en Linux, aunque conozco sus ventajas. A migrar se ha dicho. El proyecto espero verlo y ayudarte en él. BlackHat desde que se fueron ustedes no ha sido lo mismo. Antes la esperaba ansioso y ahora la cojo por sorpresa en el Buzón. Articulo de Varela

Creo que escribirte en ingles seria caer en pesadez asi que te escribo en "cubano". Revise la pagina que editaste sobre Carlos Varela y te inclui una breve informacion sobre Los Hijos de Guillermo Tell Vol.1. El ultimo disco que produjo Varela no se conoce aun el nombre pero ya en una entrevista el año pasado el dijo algunos titulos: "De espaldas a la Epoca","Telon de fondo","Descapotable Rosado","Nadie",entre otras. Hi,I have seen you are the one who uploaded an imagen from John Lenon´s statue , if you live in Cuba as you say i´m sure you know the statue´s glasses are missing in your picture , please take a new one , the statue looks really ugly without them. Vmmf Something else, I study the same plase you do but in my case is Tele instead, I also like rock as much as you do , have a 56 kb modem connection and whats very strange have includded in my favorite films 12 monkeys by Brad Pitt and Bruce W. , The butterfly effect first and only seen 3 summers ago in Ciencia y ficcion, you know Brunos´ TV show . The English Patient and Armagedon. Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge ‎ has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge!
