Speedy deletion nomination of File:Dr. Henry C. Lee, Forensic Scientist.jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Dr. Henry C. Lee, Forensic Scientist.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. • It is an insult to Wikipedia to upload a pathetic thumbnail. If the university is prepared to provide a decent resolution image (1000px or more), then upload it to the Commons and take appropriate steps to show that the copyright holder releases it. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 08:42, 29 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of MuuMuse

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on MuuMuse requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Ridernyc (talk) 04:09, 17 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Eyesnore. I wanted to let you know that I undid one of your recent contributions, such as the one you made to Charger Bulletin, because it didn’t appear constructive to me. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks, Eyesnore 21:48, 1 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Hi Eyesnore! I didn't notice what you changed - what changed, and can you explain what I did wrong so I'll know better for next time? Cheers, Zrosen88 16:52, 1 February 2013 (ET)
Hi, Zrosen88! It looks like what happend is that User:Eyesnore misclicked while using the anti-vandalism tool WP:Huggle. They undid their reversion of you a few seconds later so it looks like they would agree with me when I say you did not in fact do anything wrong at all. Happy editing! License tagging for File:UNH circa 1968.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:UNH circa 1968.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 22:05, 5 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Maxcy Hall 1970.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Maxcy Hall 1970.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Dianna (talk) 02:31, 10 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:President_Steven_H._Kaplan_with_Dr._Henry_C._Lee_and_Sen._Dick_Blumenthal.jpg - hoping I uploaded this correctly with copyright info? I own the photo and am releasing it to Wikimedia Commons ... but the image was taken by someone I hired and has their name. Afraid it will be deleted for someone fearing it was stolen. Any help is greatly appreciated! - Zack Rosen (talk) 21:14, 15 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

You need to ask on Commons, as they have their own rules and procedures. Start at commons:Commons:Upload help. JohnCD (talk) 21:20, 15 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
If you hired someone to take the photo, the copyright is theirs, not yours. You need to get a letter from them releasing the photo under a creative commons license and forward it to the wikimedia foundation. TheOriginalSoni (talk) 21:22, 15 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Temporary Information and Names

edit

Hello, Wikipedians! As a still-amateur editor, I have a question regarding temporary information: specifically, names. If an article about a university refers to their student government, is it appropriate to include the student government's president's name in the article? I lean towards this information not being necessary and, specifically due to its temporary standing (new student government presidents are elected each year), unencyclopedic ... but can someone give me a definitive answer? And/or show me the Wikipedia guideline that explains this? I keep seeing this popup on an article and don't want to delete if it is, in fact, appropriate for Wikipedia. Thanks a bunch! Zack Rosen (talk) 23:09, 3 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

If independent, reliable sources talk about the student government, I don't see why Wikipedia wouldn't talk about it, either. I dream of horses If you reply here, please leave me a {{Talkback}} message on my talk page. @ 23:28, 3 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your advice. I agree with including the student government...yet, the name of the president? What would you say about that? Zack Rosen (talk) 23:52, 3 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

If that specific president is discussed by reliable sources - say, because they were involved in some significant event - then Wikipedia should definitely mention the name. On the other hand I don't think a list of student government presidents is a good idea, nor a plain "The current student government president is John Doe." So it depends on context. Speedy deletion nomination of Steven H. Kaplan

edit

Hello Zrosen88,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Steven H. Kaplan for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. SajjadF (talk) 23:51, 20 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

You've been unsubscribed from the Feedback Request Service

edit

Hi zrosen88! You're receiving this notification because you were previously subscribed to the Feedback Request Service, but you haven't made any edits to the English Wikipedia in over three years.

In order to declutter the Feedback Request Service list, and to produce a greater chance of active users being randomly selected to receive invitations to contribute, you've been unsubscribed, along with all other users who have made no edits in three years or more.

You do not need to do anything about this - if you are happy to not receive Feedback Request Service messages, thank you very much for your contributions in the past, and this will be the last you hear from the service. If, however, you would like to resubscribe yourself, you can follow the below instructions to do so:

  1. Go to the Feedback Request Service page.
  2. Decide which categories are of interest to you, under the RfC and/or GA headings.
  3. Paste {{Frs user|zrosen88|limit}} underneath the relevant heading(s), where limit is the maximum number of requests you wish to receive for that category per month.
  4. Publish the page.

If you've just come back after a wikibreak and are seeing this message, welcome back! You can follow the above instructions to re-activate your subscription. Likewise, if this is an alternate account, please consider subscribing your main account in much the same way.

Note that if you had a rename and left your old name subscribed to the FRS, you may be receiving this message on your new username's talk page still. If so, make sure your new account name is subscribed to the FRS, using the same procedure mentioned above.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on the Feedback Request Service talk page, or on the Feedback Request Service bot's operator's talk page. Thank you!
