Geography

edit

Uzykol is part of the Ishim river basin. It is located about 4 km (2.5 mi) to the south of the Ishim river channel within the floodplain of the river. The lake is connected with neighboring lake Sabakty by a canal. It has a roughly oval shape with an attached bay in the east and another in the west. Often, during floods, river Ishim flows into Uzynkol. The shores are low-lying and the lake bottom is muddy. The lake usually freezes at the beginning of November and thaws by the end of April. the water is saline and hard.[3][2]

Lake Sabakty lies 1.7 kilometers (1.1 mi) to the north, Barshyn 8 kilometers (5.0 mi) to the northwest, and Alakol 36 km (22 mi) to the southeast.[3]
