Varun Buddhadev is an Indian actor who works in Hindi films and television. He portrayed the young Alluri Sitarama Raju in RRR (2022).[1] He played the title role of Mridul "Middi" in Toolsidas Junior (2022),[2] for which he received a Special Mention at the 68th National Film Awards.[3][4][5] He has also appeared in films such as Samrat Prithviraj, Kadak Singh and Kedarnath.[6]
Early life
[edit]Buddhadev was born on 26 May 2006 in Mumbai.[7] He began working as a child actor at the age of eight and has appeared in television serials and advertisements.[1]
Career
[edit]Buddhadev made early film appearances in Baazaar and Kedarnath in 2018, followed by Mumbai Saga in (2021).[6] In 2022, he portrayed the young Alluri Sitarama Raju in S. S. Rajamouli’s film RRR[1][8] and the young Prithviraj in Samrat Prithviraj.[9] He also played the title role in Toolsidas Junior, directed by Mridul Mahendra.[2][10][11] For his performance in the film, he received a Special Mention at the 68th National Film Awards.[4][3][12]
Buddhadev's subsequent film work included Dono[6][13] and Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury’s thriller Kadak Singh in 2023.[14][15]
In 2025, he appeared in the film Badass Ravi Kumar,[6][16] and the historical action film Chhaava.[17]
Awards and recognition
[edit]For his performance in Toolsidas Junior, Buddhadev received a Special Mention at the 68th National Film Awards. The film also won the National Film Award for Best Hindi Feature Film.[3][4][18]
