History
editVisualPolitik was created on February 2, 2016.[4] The VisualPolitik videos have appeared on several occasions in articles in the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia,[5] El Desconcierto,[6] among others.[7][8] Its creators have participated as guests in events such as Cultube and have given interviews with the press, such as with El Mundo or with the television program Good Morning People, to share their experiences and opinions. The team of founders, self-identified with economic liberalism, have on occasion been speakers at seminars on politics and economics at the Francisco Marroquín University, a libertarian institution, in collaboration with the Juan de Mariana Institute, a Spanish think tank of liberal ideology.[9]
In 2017 they were a trending topic in Peru, due to a video of the president of Peru, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski which they chose as character of the year.[10]
In one of their videos they mention their position in relation to the reform of the Copyright Law approved by the European Parliament in April 2019, as a bad decision that harms Internet users.[11][12] On a trip to Brussels they attended the European Parliament to protest the reform of the Copyright Law. In 2020 they participated with other YouTubers in the YourMSC initiative of the Munich Security Conference to do some interviews and document the event.[13]
Fonseca and Gustavo Monge, a correspondent for the EFE news agency, discussed and analyzed the 2021 Czech parliamentary election on Radio Prague International.[14] Fonseca was a guest on the Twitch channel of the radio station, COPE, in which he dedicated himself to analyzing the most recent Spanish political events.[15] VisualPolitik criticized the former president of Peru, Pedro Castillo for his failed attempt to dissolve the Congress of the Republic, giving him the "anti-prize".[16] They also stated that his presidential term "will go down in history as a particularly low moment of Peruvian democracy".[17] They have also been active critics of Russian President Vladimir Putin.[18]
