{{rfc|prop}} (RFC notice)
The main page hasn't been redesigned since 2006. This RFC intends to develop design criteria for a new main page by discussing the various aims of the main page, whether the current main page achieves each aim, and if not, what needs to change.
For each statement, please leave a comment in the appropriate subsection. Alternative statements may be provided by anyone at any time. Remember, this is not a vote - the ultimate aim of this RFC is to develop discussion leading to the (rough) consensus views of the community. This RFC will stay open until (date 30 days after opening), though individual sections may remain open longer if discussion is ongoing.
