Wikipedia:Administrators open to recall/Alternative process
This page is currently inactive and is retained for historical reference. Either the page is no longer relevant or consensus on its purpose has become unclear. To revive discussion, seek broader input via a forum such as the village pump. |
This page in a nutshell: Administrators who use this process, if asked by 20 editors with over 500 edits and one month of tenure, resign. At their discretion, they can submit a RfA at any time after resigning. |
Background
editCategory:Wikipedia administrators open to recall lists some admins who have indicated they are open to being recalled. To increase the predictability of the recall process, some members have documented their intentions at Wikipedia:Administrators open to recall/Admin criteria. For those who have not, this page represents another sample procedure and set of criteria which may be chosen as a fallback at recall time if the admin doesn't want to invent a new procedure.
Before commencing the recall process, editors are advised to consider discussing their concerns with the admin.
Process
editThis recall process has three stages, petition, resignation and RfA.
Petition
editAny editor may request recall by starting a numbered petition on the admin's talk page. (Before doing so, they should clarify whether the admin is using this or another process.) Editors may request recall for any reason, but are expected to do so civilly and in good faith.
To trigger a resignation, a recall petition must be signed by 20 editors each having over 500 edits and over one month of tenure.
To allow time for cooling off and to facilitate discussion and compromise, petitions can remain open for seven days. Petitioners may strike out their signatures at any time. If at the end of the petition period the required threshold is met, then the admin resigns; otherwise, the recall fails.
Resignation
editIn order to resign, the admin requests removal of privileges at Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard.
RfA
editFollowing resignation, the ex-admin may submit, at their own convenience, a new Wikipedia:Requests for adminship.
