Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/AMbot 2

Operator: After Midnight

Automatic or Manually Assisted: Start each run with manual assist and then automatic from there

Programming Language(s): AWB

Function Summary: Category tagging/untagging for CFD/UCFD

Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): as needed to fulfill requests

Edit rate requested: 10 edits per minute

Already has a bot flag (Y/N): Y

Function Details: This work will only be used to perform 2 types of tasks for group nominations. 1) When a group nom is closed as keep, the bot will remove the (U)CFD tag from each category. 1a) if desired each talk page can be tagged with {{oldcfdfull}}. 2) When a group nom is made, if someone requests it, the bot can tag a list of categories pointing them to the discussion to keep someone from having to do this work manually. All good faith requests, regardless of whether the bot operator agrees or disagrees with the actual (U)CFD nomination. The nomination must still be made on the (U)CFD by the requester. The bot will only be linking to the discussion. As such the requester will be considered to be nominating the categories, not the bot or its operator. As with my prior approved task, I will start each run manually to confirm function and edit summaries and then will switch to automatic mode. I have done this task (removal) manually once with AWB a couple months ago [1]. I have recently received a request to tag a large group which can be a new trial if approved for such. --After Midnight 0001 17:11, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  •   Approved for trial (100 edits or 10 days). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. Simple request existing bot, though 10epm seems a bit fast for this type of work, is the volume so vast that this is required? (As category space isn't that heavily edited direcetly may cause some log flooding). — xaosflux Talk 17:34, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
