Discussion
editJust some random thoughts. Could this be used not only with manual commands but automatic updating with users joining channels and leaving them? also have you thought about a flag for when users change nicks so that when a user sets their nick to user|away it automaticly updates on wiki? βcommand 2 19:27, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Yeah, I'll add functionality for that as well --Chris 12:46, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've done this before, and it's kinda cool. No objections from me. — Werdna talk 06:26, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Seeing as I finally am on IRC, and there doesnt seem to be any risk of mainspace damage, sounds good. MBisanz talk 00:43, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The status being in sub-pages of the bot's own userspace, such as User:StatusBot/Status/someuser/somepageorother, if I'm extrapolating correctly from the bot's recent edits? If it's only making edits to such pages, it's essentially speediable. Alai (talk) 00:28, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Ordinarily, yes, but, we're possibly talking about a lot of edits, and, a bot that makes edits for other users via off-wiki requests. That being said, I don't see a problem with giving it a short trial, and moving along quickly with this one. Approved for trial (3 days). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. SQLQuery me! 03:03, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I'll grant you that "speedying" has no terribly precise and formal meaning in this context, so yes, what I was struggling to express is essentially what you just said. Alai (talk) 12:26, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- It's live in #wikipedia-en and #statusbot see the userpage or type !help for instructions on how to use --Chris 12:05, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Ok trial done and everything seem to be working fine, can it be approved? --Chris 01:20, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Edits are fine. Approved. Soxred93 | talk bot 01:27, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
