Unless I misunderstand, there is not consensus to remove these images. There seems to be consensus that a new system should be come up with, but I don't think you can justify mass removing all the image links based on what I have read at the links you provided. Note this same task was previously proposed and withdrawn at Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/AmeliorationBot 2, and there does not seem to have been any additional discussion at the linked page since then. Anomie⚔ 17:34, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

I believe there was also a more recent discussion as well (I remember because I participated in it) that also led to no consensus or consensus against removing them. They might be considered deprecated but deprecated does not mean removed as fast as possible. Mr.Z-man 17:22, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
