Discussion
edit- As I suggested at the albums page, I think it could be done a bit more cleverly than that:
- Remove all links to debut album
- Remove all running links to debut, album (see AWB's Filter\Intersection feature)
- Ensure that there's one link to an article about album types, if removing the debut album links.
What do you think? --kingboyk 12:19, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- So it would be "debut album → debut album" and "debut album → debut album" for all pages that contain album infobox, right? Jogers (talk) 12:25, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes, except I don't know that it needs to be restricted to album infobox?
- I haven't worked out yet how point 3 would be implemented, but I think there are various ways. I have a bit of a headache at the moment so hopefully will feel less cloudy later (or perhaps Martinp23 will come up with something).
- I'm not trying to force you, btw; if you think my idea is crap, say so. --kingboyk 12:34, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I don't think that your idea is crap but I'm still not fully convinced that there should always be a link to album left. Isn't it just a plain English word? Jogers (talk) 13:20, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- If it is, it shouldn't be an article?... It doesn't have to be album either, provided there's a link to something about the format... (compact disc, compilation album, whatever). I was just thinking that if you don't leave some sort of link behind folks are likely to complain? --kingboyk 13:25, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- A lot of common English words have articles, I guess, but the point about possible complaints finally convinces me :-) So, I'll remove links to debut album entirely from articles that already have a link to "album", "studio album" etc. and change "debut album" to "debut album" in articles that have links to any type of album except of "album" itself. Anything else I will leave alone. How about that? Jogers (talk) 19:11, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Approved for trial. Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. up to 75 edits. Martinp23 20:11, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I made 75 edits without any problems. Jogers (talk) 20:57, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Checked a few at random and looked fine.
- If you're going to do debut album (2 links) too, can you do 75 on that as well please?
- Also, I think you ought to have a link in your edit summary explaining why you're doing, probably to the WP:ALBUMS talk page would suffice. --kingboyk 21:00, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- But there are only 22 pages linking both to debut and to album :-) Let me take care of them manually :-) Good idea, I'll add the link to the relevant discussion at WP:ALBUMS to the edit summary. Jogers (talk) 21:12, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- You're kidding me, only 22?! --kingboyk 21:18, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- No, I'm not kidding but "debut album" seems to be indeed pretty common. I removed few of them in the trial pass. Jogers (talk) 21:21, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Okie dokie. All seems good and you know what you're doing. --kingboyk 21:27, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks. Jogers (talk) 21:29, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
