Captions of images nominated for deletion (either per WP:CSD#F1 ff., WP:PUI, or WP:IfD) are supposed to be extended with informational templates (in article space), to get the attention of the editors who are most likely to care. This bot task is ensuring that image usages are tagged appropriately, and that the notifications are removed again if the respective images are no longer tagged for deletion. This is a previously approved task that didn't cause any problems, as far as I'm aware, but User:ImageTagBot is inactive these days and User:Sam Korn, the bot owner, isn't responding to messages. Since the version of the source code is publicly available, X! has offered to take over that task. Amalthea 21:39, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
