Discussion
editSorry, but this function really does not seem important. It seems like you are only trying to sort the category by letter. Care to explain why this is necessary? alphachimp 02:33, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- At Category talk:WelcomeBotResearch, we're trying to see if it would be useful to use a bot to welcome users. Sorting would make it easier to find specific sections. After the initial run, the bot probably won't take that long anyway. Also, it would probably have other tasks in the future (which I would get approval for later)--TeckWiz ParlateContribs@ 02:39, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I tend to agree, and don't see the point of that cateogry yet, am looking in to a bit more before writing up a CFD. — xaosflux Talk 02:55, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- The point is to see how useful it will be to have a bot welcome new users instead of people. --TeckWiz ParlateContribs@ 02:57, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks, I do hope that catefory is in a limited run though, or that category will become unmaintainable and will need a bot (like mine!) just to depopulate it. — xaosflux Talk 03:19, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- FYI, still don't see a usefulness of a sortkey on this. — xaosflux Talk 03:19, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Just to get the cat sorted by letter. It won't run that much after the initial time. Once research is done, the bot will be stopped and will not be used again until needed (and when needed will get approval again). --TeckWiz ParlateContribs@ 03:28, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Won't the cat already sort by letter though? All the pages are under U for User talk:, yes, but they're in order within that. —METS501 (talk) 12:08, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

- I'm motioning this for a deny if usefulnes is not asserted in the next few days. — xaosflux Talk 18:15, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Denied. It's pretty obvious what this bot is going to do, and we've shown that it's unnecessary. If TeckWiz wants to open a new request, then he can feel free. —METS501 (talk) 18:19, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
