- Task 10: Replace {{BD}} with
{{BIRTH-DEATH-SORT}}{{Lifetime}} or substitute it completely.
Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): Periodically
Already has a bot flag (Y/N): Y
Function Details:
I already have ran tasks 7-9 making thousands of edits. Task 7 and 8 are just a normal expand of tasks already done. Task 9 will run only in the categories given above.
The reason I added Task 10 is because there was a consensus against "BD". This template suffix -SORT so as to clue in editors that it embeds and replaces DEFAULTSORT, making it very dangerous about its function. Right now at about 20,000 are using it. Of course, I would prefer to complete subst this template. -- Magioladitis (talk) 10:03, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

editFor task 10 both of those template redirect to {{Lifetime}}. BJTalk 22:56, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- No problem. I can change BD to Lifetime. I think BIRTH-DEATH-SORT has to change as well. -- Magioladitis (talk) 23:13, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Approved for trial (50 edits). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. for Task 9, eye towards approving all four. MBisanz talk 11:49, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Do you mean Task 10? I did 50 trials for Task 10 by substituting BD. -- Magioladitis (talk) 14:10, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Done I did 50 trial for task 9 by pressing Save manually. Task 9 can't be tested automatically right now because Kingbotk AWB Plugin has a problem. -- Magioladitis (talk) 14:25, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- What's the point of task 10? Its replacing a redirect with another redirect. If it is done, it should replace it with the target template, and only if its doing something else on the page (per Wikipedia:R#NOTBROKEN) unless there is a plan to repurpose {{BD}} for use as something else (which would warrant replacing all existing uses). - BD must be orphaned and deleted as a redirect because it's hiding DEFAULTSORT from its name. It was a discussion about that and the reason we changed the name from BD to Lifetime. We already have deleted it from the manual of Lifetime as a valid redirect. In my test edits I completely subst BD, not just renamed it. -- Magioladitis (talk) 10:24, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Just FYI, this discussion inspired me to write rev:43077, which, once it goes live, ought to reduce the potential problems with this or other similar templates. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 14:46, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
