Desi language has more hits, maybe that is the more common term. According to this Wikipedia-article List of languages by total speakers there are ten million speakers of deccan in India. Other names seem to be desi or dekini.--Fenice 07:23, 16 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Honestly speaking, I've never heard of this language in India, and what astonishes me are its large numbers. I'm guessing that it is a term used for all the languages in the Deccan. "desi" means country or country language (village language). =Nichalp «Talk»= 08:33, July 16, 2005 (UTC)

I did a Google-search using the number of speakers given in our table. This did turn up results: it must be an urdu dialect distinctive to the Deccan plateau. [1] [2] [3] [4]
