I am nominating this for featured list because the Melbourne Football Club is the oldest Australian rules football club and their best and fairest award is their preeminent player award for the club. The list has been significantly expanded and I believe it meets the quality of Wikipedia's best lists. In addition, there are currently no FL in WP:AFL and I am trying to improve this, so the outcome of this will be a good gauge for the rest of the AFL lists.     • VFL/AFL should be written fully (no abbr on the first instance)
    • The award was renamed in 1943 - how was it called before 1943?
    • The voting system as of the 2010 AFL season - an update needed (today is 2016)
    • On the table, there has to be a footnote to explain why there are no runner ups and votes, as it stands, it looks like an incomplete list. By the way, after a quick look at your references, I saw who was the runner up in 1952 and 1953
    • How can an article published in 1955 state who won in 1956? Yes, your reference for 1956 was published in 1955.

All fixed, I wasn't sure whether to place the footnotes in the ref column or as I've currently put it, so please let me know if they should be moved to the ref column. Also the 1955 and 1956 references were placed in the incorrect order, they're fixed now. Thanks, Flickerd (talk) 04:30, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The footnotes should be in the headings: the "a" footnote next to "Runner up" and "b" next to both "Votes". Inside those empty cells this dash "—" can be placed. I believe you can find the runner ups in 1957-1959 if you research some more.--Cheetah (talk) 08:02, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Source Review:

  • What on earth is the general reference to "Demonwiki"? (I can't even see it, it won't load). Wikis aren't reliable sources, so that would be an external link at best.
    • It's just a collation of the winners and runners up and the votes, the website has been down for the last couple of days, so that's why it can't be viewed. I'll move it to the external links section.
  • I'm not comfortable with the first 3 references (all for the Melbourne FC founding date? Surely you'd only need 1...) all being a book/magazine with no author or publisher or page number.
    • There's a bit of back story with this one.. there was a court case a few years ago regarding the foundation date, and the person who filed the lawsuit is actually on Wikipedia and kept changing the establishment date on the main club page. About 2 years ago, the constant changing of the date on the Wiki club page was finally settled as those three references were used in the court case by the club to support the foundation date of 1858, and then it was used on the Wikipedia club page to support the statement as the foundation date was considered contentious. Basically it's a copy and paste of the refs from the club page, I may be able to expand them a bit. The first one is not really enough by itself as that is the original letter by Tom Wills and it is considered the foundation date of the club, the next two refs are supporting this letter as the foundation of the club.
