  • Not an "upside-down" L, it's an L rotated through 180 degrees (alt text).
  • " Florida became the 27th U.S. state in 1845. The last county was created in" maybe "in 1845 while its last county..."?
  • Five paras in the lead seems a little over the top (see WP:LEAD)
  • "showing the influence two hundred years of Spanish rule had on the area" - influence of 200 years of Spanish rule"?
  • "The average land area is 805 sq mi (2,085 km2) The largest county" missing some punctuation.
  • Still don't see why County has to be bold (perhaps fix the template as this goes against MOS).
  • And why are the County cells a different colour?
  • Why are the references in the table column headers on a different row? Is there a linebreak between the text and the heading?

Addressed all the suggestions except for the last three. The two related to the {{countyrow}} template, I have been unable to figure out how to change. I have made an inquiry to the creator of the template to see if he can make the change. As for the references being on a separate row in the column headers, this is done by the {{Countytabletop}} template. I removed the linebreaks as suggested, but the result was very undesirable – looking very disorganized. You're welcome to try the change yourself and see the effect it has on the county lists. I like it, but a few things that caught my eye. Are there 2009 Census estimates for the counties? Where were the proposed counties to have been? Also, Dade County isn't really a former county, it was just re-named. Same with the rest of them. Maybe retitle that section "Renamed counties". Former county makes me think of one that once existed, but was merged with another. Otherwise looks good. --Viennaiswaiting (talk) 22:43, 13 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There are no 2009 estimates for counties. In 2009 they did however do an estimate for the entire state, as well as do a new estimate for the entire state for 2008. To be consistent, I think it would be best to use 2008 figures, so I've changed it to reflect the updated 2008 estimate. I also changed section title to "Renamed counties".   • Should spell out 'United States' in the first sentence (not just U.S.) and link to the country.
  • Even more critical, there is not link to 'counties of the United States' or whatever the article is called. Perhaps also add a few lines on what a county actually is. Also, add a few lines if there is any differences in jurisdiction or other things from other states (if there are any, I don't know).
  • Comma after 'Florida became the 27th U.S. state in 1845' to give the reader a natural break. Could stick in a second if you like.
  • Why is exactly Miami-Dade and Osceola used as examples of who counties are names after?
  • Stick in a sentence on the total area of Florida.
  • The statement "To distinguish from counties in other states, one must use Florida’s FIPS code, 12" should be rephrased to passive, avoiding the "one".
  • According to MOS:BOLD, the use of boldface the way it is here should not be done. Anyhow, never wikilink boldface. Emphasis is already established through a separate background color.
  • I would have thought the 'formed from' counties should also have been linked.
  • How about a short introductory text before the 'renamed' and 'proposed' to present the table, and give a short explanation for why/how counties were renamed, and the circumstances of proposals.
  • Ref 7 should have page numbers.

Addressed most of these. The first link on the page is already County (United States), is that not what you want? I used Miami-Dade and Osceola as an etymology example as I found it to be the most interesting case: two counties named after leaders of opposing sides of the Second Seminole War. As I explained to TRM above, the bold county names in the table is done by the template {{countyrow}}. I am unsure of how to remove this bolding; however, I made an inquiry to the creator of the template to see if he could do it. I did not add introductory text before the 'renamed' section, as every piece of information about the renamings that could be found is already in the table. However, I did include an introduction to the proposed counties section. I removed Ref 7, as this was added prior to my editing of the article, and I have no access to it.   • "Florida's counties were originally subdivisions of the state government. Throughout its history however, county governments have grown increasingly important." The flow here is quite rocky. The first sentence says nothing about about the importance of the counties, so "Throughout its history however" seems out of place.
  • "FIPS Code"-->FIPS code, since "code" is not a proper noun. Same thing for "Proposal Date" in the proposed counties section.
  • Notes in the table that are not complete sentences should have periods (full stops) at the end, such as "James McNair Baker (1821–1892), a Confederate senator and later a judge in the fourth judicial district."
  • "Two counties were previously proposed in Florida's state legislature" Redundant word.
