Original – Ilya Ilyich Mechnikov/Élie Metchnikoff, the Russian scientist who discovered phagocytes and won the 1908 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine

Reason: There's a few good pictures of him on Gallica, but I've always preferred an "action" shot, where available. It's not perfect - The original was a bit overexposed, and while I could bring it down a bit, it's very contrasty between the pure white equipment and coat, and dark background.
