Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/Opte Project map
This doesn't really fit any of the well-defined criteria for a photo, but I think it adds much to its article Internet. It is a map of the Internet's top level domain using colors. Don't know what else to say, but it's also quite pretty. And note: The size used on Internet where it's not a thumb allow it to show up much better. - Dmcdevit 03:50, 10 May 2005 (UTC)

- Oppose- sorry, a pretty pic but I have no idea what it represents. I suppose it means the net has a lot of connections but I knew that already ;-) Adrian Pingstone 19:19, 10 May 2005 (UTC)

- Support. About a year ago, I spent quite a while looking for a map like this to illustrate internet, but couldn't find a free use version. It could use a better explanation on the caption. -- Solipsist 08:52, 11 May 2005 (UTC)
- Support. very nice. - Ian 13:19, 11 May 2005 (UTC)
- Neutral. Nice, but difficult to interpret. Perhaps it would need better explanations about what nodes and edges represent. Also, the graph has black on black edges, as is written on [1]. The author wrote he would correct the problem soon but he doesn't seem to have done it yet. Looking at the LGL edge colors file, the black edges are still there. --Bernard Helmstetter 16:25, 11 May 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose. Not that interesting. Fredrik | talk 16:40, 11 May 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose A pretty picture, but devoid of useful information. Denni☯ 23:14, 2005 May 11 (UTC)
- Neutral / Weak Oppose. It's a very nice image, but, as others have said, it presents no useful information. — Asbestos | Talk 10:09, 12 May 2005 (UTC)

- Well, because of the comments brought up here about the lack of usefulness (which, upon reflection I'd tend to agree with) and how the idea of the map interested me, I just created an article on the Opte Project. Surely now we have a place for the image that makes it a useful picture. (PS, please help expand the article!) --Dmcdevit 05:44, 13 May 2005 (UTC)
- Not promoted, archived early - Aarchiba is correct, this is inappropriately licensed. Sorry. James F. (talk) 10:22, 19 May 2005 (UTC)
