Hi everyone, this is a nomination for a portal about the nation of Bulgaria. It was started by TodorBozhinov who should be commended for maintaining it single-handedly for quite a long time, until sometime last year. Daniel and I came across it and decided to give it a bit of dressing up. It currently features rotating selected content (articles, DYKs and pictures), and I shall continue to add to its selection of content during this nomination. I feel it meets the criteria: it is attractive, it is useful and comprehensive, and there's the promise of it being well-maintained from now onwards! Please feel free to make any suggestions you like. Cheers, ~ Riana ⁂ 06:59, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Support as co-nominator, naturally. Daniel 07:01, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Support (as co-author). This portal wouldn't have been the same without the help of Riana and Daniel, whose effort has really turned it into a featured-quality wikigateway to our country :) Todor→Bozhinov 12:29, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OpposeSupport:I'm afraid I have to oppose for the following reasons:Nice work Riana and Daniel, keep this up. Arman Aziz 02:21, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]A current events / in the news section has become an almost indispensable component for a country related portal. For a portal on historical or theoretical topic this section may be optional, but I can't support a portal on a country to be called "one of the best work in wikipedia" unless it helps me get a glimpse of the current events in the country.- Riana and I are working on this given the restructure opens up some space for it. Daniel 09:07, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Done, I think. I'll put a link on my userpage so I remember to update it :) Daniel 10:42, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

- The portal looks fine in Firefox,
but has some display problems in Internet Explorer (IE). Since, IE is one of the most common browsers, I believe we must fix the code to work well with IE before featuring it.- Fixing the source of the problem via a restructure. Daniel 09:07, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Is it all fixed now? Seems to be, in my version of IE. The problem seems to have been some tables in the Categories and Topics subpages. Daniel 10:05, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Not yet from my browser. Clearly the category box is looking better. But still the two columns are coming one after another, not side by side. This could be because of incorrect positioning of "Div" starting/ending tag. Arman Aziz 10:33, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I'll have another look. Daniel 10:42, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- All the start/end tags look in order, from my end. Could you have a fiddle yourself, because it's hard to experiment without being able to see the issue in the window? :) Daniel 10:49, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Editing from the school's IE (which also had the problem), I made some changes and it seems fixed. Is it? Daniel 23:27, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes, it looks ok now. Arman Aziz 02:21, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The "Read more..." link in "Did you know" section doesn't make sense. Better get rid of it.- Wikipedia:Recent additions (the linked page) is the archive for all DYK's on Wikipedia. If you want to read more DYK's, then you go there. Any suggestions what else we could link to? I'd prefer to keep the footers for all three inputs (SA, SP, DYK) similar. - It is strongly encouraged that portals go through a peer review process before being nominated for featured status. Arman Aziz 07:05, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Hi Arman Aziz. I have raised 2 portals to featured status, Portal:Chemistry and Portal:West Bengal. Both of these underwent peer review at the FPoC - i.e. people gave actionable objections and we worked through it. I'm not sure what you mean by a peer review, could you please elaborate for me? Thanks, ~ Riana ⁂ 08:27, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Sorry Riana, the last point was not really a reason of objection, this was more of a suggestion. If all other problems are fixed I won't object simply for this. None the less, peer review is a very useful process to get helpful suggestions about improving a portal. Please check point number 1 of Nomination procedure on this page, to get the reason of my comment. Arman Aziz 10:21, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Understood, thanks. I will decline to take this step. You're right about Internet Explorer though, I think I might know what's causing this and will fix it. ~ Riana ⁂ 12:03, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
