I am nominating this portal because I feel it satisfies the criteria for featured portal. This portal was created by Moxy when the Latin music project was just the Latin American music task force. Since then, it has become a portal for Latin music as a genre as opposed to simply being a portal for Latin American music to reflect on the changes of the WikiProject. Since there are conflicting definitions of Latin music, I decided to base the portal on the Latin Recording Academy's definition of Latin music (see their categories). In other words, the portal focuses on music in Spanish and Portuguese from Latin America, the Iberian Peninsula, and the Latino United States as well as recordings done by crossover artists such as Christina Aguilera, Nelly Furtado, and Beyonce. I also use Billboard's and the RIAA's definition as a secondary definition which is why Billboard's Latin charts are listed on top of the portal. Credit goes to Bryan McLaude for updating the Billboard Latin charts every week. I opened a peer review a while back, but I only got feedback from a fellow member and it has gone active. I will be watching this nomination to address any issues. Thank you, Erick (talk) 19:41, 21 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment Can you add more "Selected article" selections? OhanaUnitedTalk page 04:04, 25 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- @OhanaUnited: Are articles about tours fine? Erick (talk) 13:39, 25 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- Focus on high-quality articles. Use the project assessment page to locate FA and GA. OhanaUnitedTalk page 16:12, 25 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- @OhanaUnited: The amount of GAs or FAs not about an album or a song is pretty short. I have several articles about a tour by an artist which are GAs, which is why I'm asking if it's okay to those in. Erick (talk) 16:17, 25 August 2015 (UTC) EDIT: @OhanaUnited: The Latin music project has a bunch of featured lists. Would it be feasible to change the section "Selected article" to "Selected artist/list"? Erick (talk) 13:56, 26 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- @OhanaUnited: It's been nearly a month and my question hasn't been answered. Is it okay to change "Selected article" to "Selected article/list"? Erick (talk) 17:17, 21 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes, it's fine. OhanaUnitedTalk page 02:58, 22 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@OhanaUnited: Thank you for your reply. I have changed the section to include featured lists as well. Are there any other recommendations before the portal can be featured? Erick (talk) 05:52, 22 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- @Bryan McLaude: Thank you for the invitation to join this initiative. I'll keep contributing my little grains of sand to the portal ;-). Bryan McLaude (talk) 00:40, 26 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Support, the Latin music portal has been updated and new content continues to be added thanks to Erick and everyone involved at the Latin music WikiProject. We put a lot of hours and hard work to get those articles featured, good, or spotlighted over at DYK and I believe this portal meets the requirements to become a featured portal. Best, jona(talk) 19:50, 22 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment: looks very good, well done guys. I think it might be a good idea to caption "Julio Iglesias" underneath his picture: I know he's mentioned in the last line of the introduction, but some people might not make the connection with the photo. I was wondering about perhaps having a news ticker displaying the latest happenings in Latin music (e.g. new single and album releases by major Latin stars, nominations for the latest Latin Grammys, etc.) but perhaps this might be a bit more difficult to maintain. Richard3120 (talk) 19:01, 30 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- @Richard3120: Good point about Julio Iglesias's picture so I added a caption per your suggestion. I've thought about adding a news ticker before, but I'm conflicted about because as you say, it'll probably be more difficult to maintain. There is however, an article for 2015 in Latin music. Thanks for the suggestion! Erick (talk) 19:56, 30 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Support, very well maintained and frequently updated on a topic that has long been overlooked on Wikipedia until recently. Keep up the great work! Basilisk4u (talk) 23:21, 4 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment: Seems to be missing the purge this page button, on the main portal page? — Cirt (talk) 23:17, 14 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- @Cirt: It's at the bottom of the portal, it says "Purge server cache", but I can change it to "purge this page" if you wish. Erick (talk) 23:43, 14 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- Really should be at the top of the portal. Compare with Portal:Oregon, for example. Hope that's helpful, — Cirt (talk) 00:57, 15 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- @Cirt: Done. Added the purge function on top of the portal. Erick (talk) 01:08, 15 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

- Comment: Have you posted neutrally worded notices to the talk pages of all WikiProjects that are relevant to this topic? — Cirt (talk) 21:12, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- I've posted notices on the Latin music and music talk pages and just made a notice on the music genre talk page. Erick (talk) 22:15, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- Maybe also try relevant WikiProjects not just related by music but by general geography, language, and culture. — Cirt (talk) 07:33, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- I have requested several users to comment on the FPC. Erick (talk) 01:07, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

- Support, very well organized and designed, includes all major divisions needed (DYK, featured song, album, etc.), well planned! WikiRedactor (talk) 01:11, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
