Anybody may help in reviewing the nominations. If you would like to actively participate, you may add the nomination page to your watchlist and follow the reviewing instructions below. Although you can nominate yourself, you should not be the final arbiter for nominations of your own editorial work or your own nominations.
Articles that may be eligible for FOUR (based on their appearances in DYK, GA, and FA) are listed automatically in Category:Possible Wikipedia four award articles. If you believe an eligible article is not listed in that category check to see if 1.) the bot has updated the article to officially make it a FA and 2.) the article's talk page has been update so that its {{Article history}} demonstrates that the article has endured each relevant stage.
Review the article against the following criteria:
edit
- Did the editor contribute to the transition between a redlink and the article's very first encyclopedic content?
- Was the editor involved in the DYK nomination achievement? Just being involved in the nomination is not sufficient. Evaluate the editorial contributions.
- Did the editor help the article through the GA promotion process? Check the GAN discussion, the article history between the nomination date and the pass date, and the GA nomination page history for older articles. Evaluate all editorial activity that raised the quality from to the GA level.
- If DYK and GA overlap significantly, consider both from the article creation stage.
- A DYK nomination from before or after the article has become a GA counts towards the award.
- Did the editor help the article during its FA promotion process? Look at the FAC discussions, peer reviews and the article history. The credit is a determination of the editorial activity that raised the quality from the GA level to the FA level.
If an article is nominated by two or more editors, please verify the following:
- All editors were involved in the creation, either via the creation of a draft/sandbox and subsequent move to the mainspace or some other means showing significant collaboration
- All editors provided significant editorial contributions to the initial expansion of the article
- All editors were actively engaged as co-nominators on the DYK, GAN, and FAC nominations pages
Successful nominations
edit
If the nomination is successful, follow these steps:
- remove the nomination from the WP:FOUR page
- notify the user(s) at their talk page with the following template under a new section titled "Four Award":
{{subst:Four Award Message|ARTICLE}}
- add the user(s) and article to the Four Award records (for co-nominations, add the article under each editor's name in the table)
- update the unique author count at the top of WP:FOUR page if the user has not received a Four Award before (the article count is updated automatically via the Four Award category.)
- add
|four=yes
as a parameter in the {{Article history}} on the talk page of the new FOUR article so that it is included in Category:Wikipedia four award articles
- if this is a nominator's tenth or greater FOUR credit, update the leaderboard
Unsuccessful nominations
edit
If the nomination is unsuccessful, follow these steps:
- remove the nomination from the WP:FOUR page
- notify the user(s) via their talk page that the nomination failed (don't forget to explain why and to encourage them to try again later when they feel they've done it right)
- add
|four=no
as a parameter in the {{Article history}} on the talk page of article so that it is moved from Category:Possible Wikipedia four award articles to Category:Wikipedia articles rejected for Four awards
