Art + Feminism is a worldwide campaign to improve coverage of women and the arts on Wikipedia and to empower new editors. We will have computers, reference materials, and dinner available.
Oxford 2019 Art + Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon - Monday, March 4, 2019 6:00-8:00 PM Please join Oxford College us as we participate in this year's Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon, an international effort to close the gap on Wikipedia articles about underrepresented (i.e. women, LGBTQ, and non-white) artists. Attendees will create accounts on Wikipedia, learn how to use Wiki markup language, and use library resources to add citations and information for existing articles. Please bring your laptop, power cord and ideas for entries that need updating or creation. For the editing-averse, we urge you to stop by to show your support.
Wikipedia in Higher Education Symposium & Workshop - Wednesday, September 26, 2018 9:30 am – 4:30 pm Where: Woodruff Library Jones Room Come learn about the growing trend of using Wikipedia as a learning tool and how to contribute your own edits to the world's most popular online reference work. This symposium and workshop is completely free and includes a pastry/fruit breakfast and lunch. The target audience is faculty, graduate students, and anyone involved in teaching at Emory. We encourage you to attend all or part of this full-day event as you are able. Part I: Teaching with Wikipedia Wiki Education makes it possible to incorporate Wikipedia editing into your coursework. These assignments add value by developing student research, writing, and information and digital literacy skills. At this symposium, Jami Mathewson, Educational Partnership Manager at Wiki Education, will show you how. Dr. Irene Browne, Associate Professor of Sociology, will talk how she used Wikipedia in a QEP course examining the wage gap. Lunchtime Keynote Speaker: Bo Adams, Director of Pitts Theology Library & Margaret A. Pitts Assistant Professor in the Practice of Theological Bibliography Part II: Editing Wikipedia After lunch, we’ll dive into the inner workings of Wikipedia. You’ll get a hands-on opportunity to learn how to edit Wikipedia articles of interest to you. Please RSVP by September 19, 2018.

2016 Art + Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon – February 26, 2016 12:00-4:00 PM Where: Computer Classrooms 312 & 314, Main Robert W. Woodruff Library, Emory University, 540 Asbury Circle, Atlanta, GA 30322 We are pleased to announce that Emory University will be a host site for the “2016 Art + Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon.” Art + Feminism is a campaign to improve coverage of women and the arts on Wikipedia and to encourage female editorship. At our Emory event, we will focus on developing Wikipedia pages for local women artists. At the edit-a-thon, we will provide tutorials for beginner Wikipedians, as well as reference materials, computers, and refreshments. We’ll also have a list of Wikipedia articles to be composed or improved that focus on women artists in Atlanta and significant to Emory.
