Molecular Biology, 2013-2014editGLAM Ambassador/On-wiki Coordinators: Neelix, Graeme Bartlett This course provides a comprehensive overview of the key concepts in molecular biology. Students are assigned to groups of two (or three, depending on total enrollment), and each group has main responsibility for one Wikipedia article, and acts as a peer reviewer for three other groups' articles. The goal of the assignment is to make a substantive contribution to a Wikipedia article on a topic of Molecular Biology, with a target quality level between B-class and Good article (the closer to Good article the better, of course). Each group chooses a Stub-class article and improves it as much as possible within the timeframe of the semester. The course has been offered for three semesters to a total of six sections of students. To view the course pages for each section, visit the Johns Hopkins University Education Program page in the Wikipedia Education portal.
"Museums in Changing Times," JHU Museum Studies Seminar in Barcelona, June 2012editCOURSE PAGE Their final projects explored the various aspects and the importance of museum collaboration with Wikipedia projects. Students worked closely with local museums professionals to research and write relevant Wikipedia entries about the MNAC collection, while focusing on object-based learning and creation of digital strategy, as well as making connections and providing access within and beyond collections. They had the opportunity to engage with the GLAM philosophy of the benefits of sharing knowledge, even doing one edit-a-thon at the MNAC's library. |
