Strategic goal one

edit
Increase the quality and quantity of coverage of subjects that are currently underrepresented on Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia projects
Outcomes Outputs
  • Develop open knowledge
  • Establish public libraries as key creators of high quality digital content on Scottish culture
  • Public library staff will be trained as Wikipedia editors and content creators
  • Public library staff will support library users to become Wikipedia editors and content creators
  • Increased volume of articles on Wikipedia covering Scottish culture (including Gaelic language material)
  • Greater availability of, and access to, open knowledge

Progress narrative

edit
  • Lost Poets of Scotland editathon with Scottish Poetry Library. Interest generated for additional events.
  • Training day at Inverclyde for volunteers taking part in the editathon, and the editathon itself. 2 x half day format worked well and allowed volunteers to come back with questions about editing.
  • Protests & Suffragettes event - this event allowed us to develop a relationship with an existing partner (SWaC), and gave our student placement Jenny an event to which to work towards / run herself.
  • South Ayrshire staff training - this was delivered as part of the work around the town of Girvan, generating a good deal of interest in local librarians and senior management.
