UCD Library edit-a-thons: Exploring California food, wine and farming... and more:

Come learn how to edit Wikipedia! The first part of the session (from 1:00-2:00) will introduce the edit-a-thon and include a short class for new and beginning editors in how Wikipedia works and how to get started (experienced editors should feel free to just start editing). The next part (2:00-5:00) will be a hands-on workshop devoted to improving articles using UC Davis library resources, with a special focus on California food, wine and farming. Bring your Wikipedia questions and topics that you are interested in working on (you don't need to be an expert!). Drop in anytime during the event. Editors of the Daviswiki are also welcome!

- Workshop: Introduction to editing (1:30-2:00pm)
- Introduction to Wikipedia editing

- work on articles singly or in groups
- experienced editors and library staff will be available to assist with editing and with using library resources
- stay the whole time or as long as you like
- Editors of the DavisWiki are also welcome!

- The Shields Instruction Lab is a computer classroom, so you don't need to bring your own. If you want to, however, campus wifi works in the room.
- Both workshops are drop-in: Just show up! All members of the campus and community are welcome.

- Coming to UCD from off campus? Directions. The Mondavi Center parking lot (VP1) and VP5 are the closest parking lots to Shields Library. Visitor parking on campus costs $8. Note, parent & family weekend is also happening on campus on Nov 2, so there may be a lot of traffic.
