De-orphan a scientist in a nutshell:
|
Why do this?
editThere are lots of fascinating people on Wikipedia - but some of them are harder to find than others. Some pages about scientists don't yet have any links from other Wikipedia pages - they are called "orphaned pages". Help people to connect topics and learn more about interesting scientists and medics from around the world by adding a link and "de-orphaning" a page today!
How do I join in?
edit- Choose an "orphaned" person from the automatically generated list.
- Find a Wikipedia article that mentions (or should mention) your person. Take a look at their university / employer’s Wikipedia page, or try putting their name into the Link Finder tool.
- On the related page you've tracked down, click "Edit" (at the top of the page, near the search bar). You might have a pop-up ask you if you'd like to switch to visual editor - do it! It makes editing even easier.
- Find your person's name or, if your person isn't yet mentioned, add their name in an appropriate place (e.g. add their name to notable staff list or a sentence about them in the history section).
- Highlight their name and click the Wikilink button (which looks like a chain-link) to connect the pages!
- Click the blue button that says "Publish changes" and in the edit summary box write "added link". Click "Publish changes" again to save your edit.
- Celebrate because you've just made the internet better!
