For nice easy edits:
Biographies
edit- Check that people are mentioned on relevant pages - do pages about the science they work on mention their name?
- Does everyone's page mention their OSA honors? Check this list to see honors and awards you could add.
- Is their page readable? Tidy it into a coherent structure with a clear order and headings (click the Paragraph part of the toolbar to choose headings).
- Add wikilinks using the chain link button to help people find out more about the person's research topics, the places where they have worked, etc.
- Add infoboxes - there's a handy guide here.
- Add people to categories - click edit, then click on the three horizontal lines beside the pencil, then choose Categories. Look at other people's entries for inspiration for categories you could use - nice obvious ones are: Women in optics, Optical physicist, Optical engineer, Optician.
Here are some people whose Wikidata entries say that they are women whose field is optics, who you can add to categories:
- Donna Strickland
- Polina Bayvel
- Susana Marcos Celestino
- Merritt Moore - and more needs to be added to her page on her research!
- Rupamanjari Ghosh
- Jacquiline Romero
- Vivette Girault - this is a VERY short page and could have lots of information added, and an infobox.
- Isabelle Ledoux-Rak - another short page.
- Muriel Thomasset - doesn't exist in English yet, but does exist in French so there's something ready to be translated (Muriel Thomasset)!
Other
edit- Take a look at the Optics category - can you improve a page on one of these topics? Especially take a look at Optics stubs (short articles needing more information). Can you add a citation to the excellent work of a woman who has written about the topic?
- Take a look at the History of optics article - is there someone who has made a notable contribution whose work should be mentioned there?
- Translate information between different language versions of Wikipedia - you should already have the citations!
- Check out Wikidata - look on the grey bar on the left for the link to Wikidata and there's a guide here on how to edit Wikidata entries.
If you're interested in creating a page for a woman on the list who doesn't yet have one, consider looking at this draft page for a template. And look here for a list of useful information to get you started creating your biography.
