Emblem of Wa State

Emblem of Wa State, PNG version (will be deleted on 27 October 2021

Wa State
Request
Hi. Last week, the page about Wa State (an autonomous region in Myanmar) was edited to replace the PNG version of the region's emblem with a SVG version. While the SVG version is free, the PNG version is not and will deleted on 27 October 2021 which means that at the time I'm posting this it will be deleted in a few hours, if not sooner so I kindly ask you to please look at it now. The SVG version is good but it has very noticeable problems with regards to the shape of some of it's elements. Some of it appears to be traced in a way that could use improvement, especially with regards with its lack of symmetry on the borders surround the mountains and the cog-wheel at the bottom. Also, some of the red from one of the borders has been accidently placed on two gold parts below, the light blue part of the mountain scene (it might represent a lake) and the mountains themselves appear tilted slightly. The red star on the SVG version is different to the one on the PNG version. on the PNG, it is plain, on the SVG, it has a "pinwheel" decoration, if the official version used by the region's government uses a plain star (or any other type of star), please change it to that. The colors of the whole emblem between the two versions also differ and should use colors as close as possible to the official version. Any other improvements are also welcome. I wonder if someone can please take this request. I would be very grateful to the person who does so. Thanks in advance. --51.37.107.122 (talk) 19:09, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, not enough time was given for editors to look at and engage with your request (it appears the post was made too late), as the PNG image has already been deleted. Normally SVG versions of images are preferred unless accuracy is compromised, so my suggestion would have been to revert the edit replacing the PNG until changes fixing the SVG were made in order to avoid a deletion. As such, I recommend submitting a request to undelete the image, and restore the PNG on the page until such changes to the SVG are made.   Bumping thread. 109.78.160.213 (talk) 22:27, 26 November 2021 (UTC) The request to undelete the original image has been made in the last few minutes, sorry for the delay. --109.78.160.213 (talk) 22:27, 26 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@HapHaxion: The image is back. If you or anyone else would like to fulfill this request, by all means please do so. Once again, thanks in advance.--78.152.231.103 (talk) 22:21, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Note - There is no "improving" the SVG file, as it is not actually a vector graphic; rather, it is a raster graphic that was saved in SVG format. – Pbrks (tc) 22:56, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! The original "Winnie-the-Pooh" book by A. A. Milne of 1926, along with the famous illustrations by E. H. Shepard, enters the Public Domain on 1 January 2022. To prepare for this, I would like to have a 'nice' version of the above drawing, also to use it in a post on the WMF blog. You can access scans of the original black-and-white book in the Internet Archive and elsewhere. Thank you very much! --Gnom (talk) 21:56, 28 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Foiledking123: The link you gave leads to a "403 Forbidden" page. —RCraig09 (talk) 16:21, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Foiledking123: I get another "403 Forbidden" error for the png link.
+ I notice http://www.andrewturnbull.net/signs-r.html shows three examples, but they don't seem particularly unique except for differences in font and angle. Are you sure a new drawing is needed at all, given the existence of files like those in Category:R15-1 - Highway-Rail Grade Crossing?
+ What specific Wikipedia article would your desired graphic be used in? That info is called for when you submit a request here, so that we know there will be some usefulness before graphic designers invest their time. —RCraig09 (talk) 18:21, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Foiledking123: To clarify: my previous post doesn't imply I'll take this task. I'm waiting for an answer to my 18:21, 29 Dec post to see if there is reason to add another RR Xing sign to Commons. Others may wish to take it up. —RCraig09 (talk) 06:33, 10 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I've tried to convert File:Rabbit-Logo.png to SVG. The result, File:Rabbit-Logo.svg is mostly right except for some reason only the "i" of the text is as bold as it should be in the file displayed on Wikipedia, despite all being the same (correct) boldness when I load it in inkscape on my computer. I don't know how to fix this. Thryduulf (talk) 12:35, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Thryduulf: Wikipedia's SVG rendering, when it comes to text, can be a bit wonky. Since this is a company's logo, there is no reason to have actual text in the file. Convert all text to paths and reupload. – Pbrks (t • c) 15:42, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
To add, the font is Futura, which is not installed on MediaWiki servers. I'll add it and upload it for you as paths. — Berrely • TalkContribs 15:43, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request
Please create a new image, by changing the transparent face, hair and chest to white (similar to this [3]) The current image has the odd appearance of being whatever weird background color it is being used on in the boxes its used it, instead of appearing face-like, as a pale vampire does. The transparent area should be the area outside of the figure (ie. the background) instead of the face and chest.-- 65.92.246.142 (talk) 03:39, 23 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
