Request: Please clean up this image and restore Princess Teriinavahoroa's hair (she is the farthest to the right on the middle row) without it looking too tacky like this one. Don't crop individual picture of each until I can see how close this book image can compare to actual photographs of the display File:La Famille Royale de Tahiti.jpg, [1], [2], [3], [4].--KAVEBEAR (talk) 11:23, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
Done: First removed by FFT regular noise, then tried to restore hair. I was not able to upload a derivative file for the hair-restored file (again, DerivativeFx did not recognize the {{PD-OLD}} license), so I had to overwrite the previous file. --GianniG46 (talk) 21:29, 27 September 2012 (UTC) Graphist opinion(s):
- Can somebody help GianniG46 with the derivative files?
- Can you create a black and white version? And do you think they should be individually oval cropped?--KAVEBEAR (talk) 02:08, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
- Sure, for the B&W version, when the DerivativeFX problem (see [here]) will be solved. For as concerns individual crops, if you need one or more of them (not all, I hope :-) ) for one or more articles, please ask. --GianniG46 (talk) 18:12, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

Did something with it. A little improvement, but not much unfortunately. – JBarta (talk) 13:23, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
- It isn't really what I am looking for. More just a clean up without drastically changing the lighting of the image. Thanks for trying anyway.--KAVEBEAR (talk) 22:51, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

Article(s): Honório Hermeto Carneiro Leão, Marquis of Paraná
Request: The painting of the Marquis of Paraná was originally uploaded like this. It had some issues, mainly its darkness. After much effort, JBarta managed to improve it to its present status. The problem is that Paraná still looks like he has an olive skin when he was actually white. See this picture and this other one. I wanted something similar as to what was done with Pedro Álvares Cabral's painting (see above) that went from Álvares Cabral.jpg this to this. I might be wrong, but this seems to be an issue of skin tone, not merely of contrast or lightning. Anyway, I'd be really grateful if someone could work on it. Request: Please do a lossless crop from the original.. KAVEBEAR (talk) 18:57, 12 November 2012 (UTC)
Graphist opinion(s):
"Lossless" crop isn't going to result in any significant improvement and it would leave it needlessly tilted. I took the original image, rotated it straight, grayscaled it and made it more presentable all the way around. – JBarta (talk) 06:20, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- Couldn't you straighten the image and leave the space around the head? I think the current version is too compact and it would look better if less of it was cropped, so it look like the original photograph which the book used for.--KAVEBEAR (talk) 06:37, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- It's a nice crop for a head shot/infobox. The large green square in the original image is way too much. Why would you want that much space around the portrait? Because that's the way they happened to print it in the book? – JBarta (talk) 06:56, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- That is how the photograph looked like in the Lyman House Memorial Museum. --KAVEBEAR (talk) 07:03, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- Fair enough, but are you using the image to show a picture of the man or of the picture as it is shown in the museum? While it may have been somewhat common in the past to display portraits in such a manner (lots of white space around) it's not a good way to display head shots in Wikipedia infoboxes. – JBarta (talk) 07:16, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- I really don't think the extra space would affect how the picture of the man look.--KAVEBEAR (talk) 07:22, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- We're going nowhere here. It's a simple thing and a simple standard portrait crop. I'm sorry you're not happy with it. Change it back if you wish. I'm not going to do it all over again simply because you saw the image in the museum displayed with a lot of whitespace around it. That's just plain silly. I'm done here. – JBarta (talk) 07:32, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- Well, I think I made it look better by actually sharpening it. EdwardRech (talk) 17:34, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- I really like how it got out of hand again. EdwardRech, I don't think your sharpening actually helped. I will just except Jbarta's version. Beggars can't be choosers. --KAVEBEAR (talk) 19:33, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- KAVEBEAR, I apologize for snapping at you. You're not a beggar. You might be exasperating from time to time, but you are a great contributor and Wikipedia is fortunate to have you. Hitler and Mussolini; a current featured picture
Article(s): Many
Request: This is a current featured picture, but very conservative modifications could improve it- this would be a great chance for a capable image editor to get a FP "credit". Basically, the edges need cropping ever so slightly (to remove the white border) and the logo/watermark needs removing. Please upload the new image in a different place! I'd be happy to do the replacing. (Please notify me on my talk page if you reply here.) J Milburn (talk) 23:39, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

Cropping a big slug image
editArticle(s): Limax cinereoniger
Request: Could someone please crop this image to eliminate most of the distracting background while still showing all of the underside of this large slug, an individual of the largest land slug species in the world? Thanks, Invertzoo (talk) 22:23, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
Graphist opinion(s):
Comment from requester: Now it is already much better thanks, but could you possibly crop it even closer? It is OK to trim down to the lid at the top, right down to the edge of the container on the left and to trim off a little off of the right side of the container. Also some of the bottom of the container can go, as long as we see all of the slug itself. Thanks again, Invertzoo (talk) 22:18, 12 November 2012 (UTC)
