editHi all. I aim to devote some time to Wikipedia, and hope it will be appreciated and not forgotten. Not overly sure what else to say other than have a nice day! Ian 13 22:24, 1 November 2005 (UTC)
Vasco Costa
editHi, my name is Vasco Costa. I'm from Portugal and study Telecommunications and Computer Science. I've been a regular wikipedia reader for a long time and now I feel I should contribute.
Victoria
editHello: I've been a reader and user of Wikipedia for a very long time, but began to contribute only recently (November 2005). I have an extensive background in the Canadian publishing industry (including as an editor and writer), and my interests are far too many to tally. Let's just say they lean heavily towards History, Literature, and the Arts, and far away from Maths and Sciences (though, ironically, my first editing contribution here was to a science-related article). I wrote and contributed my first article here because I could find no information on the subject, and so figured I'd just do it myself. It was so much fun that I think I'll do some more.... --Victoria 03:04, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
Snori
editA Kiwi with a pretty good general knowledge and a great fan of Wikipedia. I've done a bit of editing in the past anonymously, but thought it was time to get an account. I'm enjoying sorting out the facts, but I'm also looking forward to improving the style and cohesiveness of articles. Snori 04:29, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

editHello. I'm Michael from Texas, 17, and a fan of Wikipedia. I do not claim to be an expert in anything, but I hope to contribute where I can weith small details here and there. My largest knowlege base is in video games, but I'll try to help out with other areas as well. I hope to have a good time in the Wiki community.

editHi. I'm David from Ireland. England and Liverpool in particular has been my home for 15 years. I'm a big of Bruce Springsteen and while would'nt claim to be the ultimate expert, I have picked up a fair amount of knowledge. I am also a football fan, Ireland and Liverpool FC of course!. In past few years I swayed towards Barca after visiting Nou Camp. My other main interest is history. User:[[Djln|Djln--Djln 17:52, 2 November 2005 (UTC)]]

editHello, I am 23 and I'm a recent transplant from California to New England. I recently stumbled onto Wikipedia accidentally, and of course I Love It!
Hihi!
editHi, I'm Zoë, most info on me that anyone could be interested in is already on my User page so I'll not bore you with that here. I've been visiting Wikipedia for maybe a year now and decided to se if I could lend a hand whenever I have a bit of time, since I'm here so much.

Dzhatse
editGreetings. I've finally decided to join Wikipedia after about a year of using it for my own informational needs. Although I'm not an expert in any one field (yet), I feel I have a good deal of general knowledge, as well as a knack for finding grammar and spelling mistakes. I have many interests, and thus will probably never get bored working here. Wikipedia is certainly a worthy cause, I am looking forward to contributing as much as I can and, I don't anticipate any trouble fitting in. --Dzhatse 02:23, 5 November 2005 (UTC)
Wosagahite
editHi. I'm Troi of Nevada. My knowledge is centered in math, the Japanese culture, Spanish language, and anime comics. I am interested in CSI, CIA, and FBI. I was actually searching the web on a certain topic for a paper and i found Wikipedia. Have a nice day. Wosagashite 02:04, 6 November 2005 (UTC)

editHi! I just joined Wikipedia as couple of days ago. I've been enjoying it a lot, so far, tried to help out as I could...please tell me if I've done anything wrong, or whatever. Anyway, I'm working on my BA through distance learning so I'm sure I'll be using Wikipedia a lot in the future.--ViolinGirl 00:45, 6 November 2005 (UTC)
DMS / Donna Smillie
editHi, Donna Smillie here. I've dipped into Wikipedia now and again as a result of Google searches, but only recently got into contributing. Lots of things I'm interested in, but my main area of expertise is what I do at work - advising on web accessibility. I also enjoy taking photos with my mobile phone, and if I find I can contribute a photograph to an article I'll happily do so. DMS 01:42, 6 November 2005 (UTC)
RoryBowman
editI am a US computer guy a little south of British Columbia. I'm also a former schoolteacher concerned about the intellectual laxity that the Internet encourages, so wanting to do my bit (on the installment plan) to help build substantive and accurate tools. A bit skeptical about "social texts" in general, I see Wikipedia as the current best hope and appreciate the fact that it is inexpensive to the end-user, worldwide and accessible. So far I am impressed by what I see and how "many hands make light work." Rorybowman 02:26, 6 November 2005 (UTC)
Merrill
editHi. Merrill here, from Istanbul. Great concept, these wikis. I guess it's time to give back what I took from them. (All those school projects...) Anyway, have a nice day. FreakOfNature 13:42, 6 November 2005 (UTC)

editKARL
“Karl, I hate to see you sitting in your big chair in front of your desk and spend hours looking out the window with that distant look in your beady eyes!”
“What do you want me to do, Mister President? Everyone is against me!”
“Well, you had it coming. You know, Doctor Phil always says that the fruit of self confidence is arrogance but that arrogance is really an expression of pusillanimity, whatever that is. He says that its unhappy results involve poor digestion and a touch of impotence. He also says that plotting and cooking up schemes taxes not only the brain but also darkens the soul, whichever comes first. Perhaps you should see a psychic doctor”
“You mean a psychiatrist.”
“Whatever. Besides you are running out of brilliant ideas and clever solutions. Even Scott McClellan comes up with good lies and beautiful smoke curtains. That kid is going places. But before the media notices your present condition we can perhaps arrange for an ambassadorship in some quiet place like Andorra, Burkina Faso or Belize where you can help the natives adopt freedom and democracy. You know, diplomatic status will probably keep you out of jail. .”
Old Karl listened to the Boss with some apprehension. He could not help feeling terribly jealous about Scott and disappointed that his razor sharp inventiveness seemed to have deserted him. Worse, he was about to be discarded like an old set of false teeth. Tears were already at the edge of his limpid orbs and he felt that another derogatory comment from the President, his idol, would produce an unstoppable flow of tears and another wave of heartache and anxiety. In a low voice he said:
“Is there anything you can do other than send me away?”
“How about a medal, Karl?” Astrous@comcast.net 19:42, 6 November 2005 (UTC)

editHello.
I've posted my vital stats and whatnot on my user page. I've been contributing from various IP addresses for a while now, and so I figured I should get an account.
I first found Wikipedia through Google. I was researching stuff (for fun... I know, I do that).
Here 'tis.
Gigglesworth
editHey all,
I live in Berkeley, California, USA. I've been using the Internet since 1991 and have been really impressed by it's growth. Most of my contributions are minor and focus the Central & Northern regions of California.
I'm one of those old fogeys who thought that Wiki's were a passing fad. Wikipedia has proven me wrong, although some other Wikis have proven me right ;)

editHi. Occasional user, will go to be a rather occasional contributor. Mainly knowledgable of mathematics and computers, although a hungry mind devours basically anything it comes across. Swedish by nationality, German by employment - educated mathematician and employed as cryptographer.

editHi there. I've been coming to Wikipedia for awhile now - but I can't recall really how I came to know about it. Well, after using this place for so many things, I felt that I might be able to help contribute. Interests include hockey, video games, music, and a variety of other activities and hobbies.
Michael Baptista
editHello. I am a high school student from Long Island, New York, and I usually browse Wikipedia to help with school research or to discover information on old interests. A few of my hobbies are computer games and anime, so that is where many of my initial edits have been so far. I don't envision myself creating whole articles in the near future, but that may change.
G'day
editHi all my name is Harry and I heard about Wikipedia through a search done on Google. My main areas of interest are astronomy and astrophysics (and physics in general) as well as sport, especially the Australian Rugby Team (and yes, even though they've lost seven games in a row I still support them) and the Australian Cricket Team. --Harry 04:59, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

editHi everyone,
I am joining the Wikipedia site, and figuring out how to use it mostly because I want to help translating some of the articles that need translation into English. Kelly 05:35, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

My interests include politics, foreign affairs, and most things Japanese. I've used wikipedia for a long time, and I thought it was time to give a little back. - Exitmoose 16:51, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

editHey, King'osh from Kenya here. I value wiki and thought i should contribute, if ever so humble, some of what I have learnt so far.
msklystron
editHello,
I may yet attend 'bootcamp', but I'm not interested in editing or submitting an article at this point. I generally stick to writing fiction and sometimes use Wikipedia as a starting point for research. I'm here because after reading the article on the 'Roma' people (under dispute at present), a topic I have researched in a small way, I wondered why Ian Hancock was not among the references. He is an eminent Romani scholar (see stub 'Ian Hancock').
Thank you,

ACupOfCoffee
editHello, I'm ACupOfCoffee from the Homestar Runner Wiki. I finally decided to sign up here after I saw more than a little gnoming I could do here. I'm not here very often, as I spend a good chunk of my wiki time at the aforementioned Homestar Runner Wiki and most of the rest of it at This Might Be A Wiki where I have have the same user name. The name's Homestar Runner related, what can I say. (Yes, it's CamelCase on purpose; it's a holdover from when the HRWiki used WikiTikiTavi.) See my user page there. I've a link to it on my Wikipedia user page. —User:ACupOfCoffee@ 17:49, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

William Cumpiano
edit...is a no-longer-middle-aged hybrid Puerto Rican (Puerto Rican father; Bostonian mother--note how I've chosen to identify myself?) who is fascinated with two things: Culture and its impact on behavior; and stringed instruments. I've fanatically devoted myself to the study and practice of each...and both together, to the virtual exclusion, I'm sad to say, of much else. I live my passion on a daily basis: each and every day I'm devoted to my profession, that of a maker of fretted (as opposed to bowed) stringed instruments; and to my avocation of the last fifteen years, research into the origins and traditions of Puerto Rican mountain music. 70.17.141.53 02:57, 17 November 2005 (UTC)William Cumpiano

Telestylo
editWell, I'm not exactly new here, but I certainly am very much still trying to find my way. As you might suspect from my name, I'm a television and media scholar. Without revealing too much about myself, I'm interested in talk shows, and the lion's share of my edits so far have been to the late night talk show pages. But, I also love to copy edit, so perhaps you'll see my name alongside a note about italicization or wikilinks.
I am a shameless proponent of the use of American English in all situations.
Hope to see ya round!

Salmar
editI've been reading and editing Wikipedia for about a year, although its mostly been minor things - grammar, spelling, and things like that. I'm interested in a huge ammount of seemingly random topics: fantasy and science-fiction books, linguistics, physics, mathematics, the American Civil War and ancient Egypt are a few that immedietly come to mind. I'll be editing as much as my free time allows, which, I'm afraid, won't be a lot for the next month or two. Salmar 21:38, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

editHi. I'm new-ish. I signed up because Mattsop asked permission to use my photo, which was fine, but when he posted it he spelt my name wrong. I figured it was easiest just to fix it myself.
I will pop up in random places at random time intervals. I may fix spelling or grammatical errors, or generally try to improve readability, if I think it's warranted and I have the time. Wikipedia could very easily take over my life but I'm not going to allow it to!
Becksy
editHi. I've been using Wikipedia a lot as part of a research project in work, so I started adding information I've found that wasn't yet on Wikipedia. I'm doing research on artists, designers, filmmakers and architects at the moment which Wikipedia seems to be lacking information on so hopefully I'll be able to make a useful contribution. editHey, I'm a long time fan of wikipedia and truth be told I'm a little nervous about actually working on it. I'm a little unsure about my computer skills at the moment (I can't work out how to type tildes but I can darn well copy and paste them) but a few hiccups are always to be expected. Hope I can help. editHi I am a newbie who wants to post an article about Mary Ellen Pleasant. I notice a previous article was removed- it looks like for copyright infringement. This article is my own words, newly minted for this occasion, but I am nervous about getting all the wikipedia instructions right.
I saw that I can leave a request for help and I will, if no one reads this and wants to look at my article.
Benjamin Edge
editHi. I am Benjamin Edge and I would like to have other Wiki users help contribute to my Paramount Television closing logos entry ("Closing Logos of Paramount Television") so it doesn't get deleted. Although a lot of the work on it that I did was cited from other sources, I found inspiration in creating this entry after looking at such entries for other well-known TV companies like Viacom and Columbia Pictures Television.
Pwbrooks
editHello! I'm not actually that new, since I've been poking around a couple of months, but I've not done anything serious and hadn't posted here yet. I'm a graduate student in philosophy and artificial intelligence at the University of Georgia. I like video games (mostly older ones, from the 90s), calligraphy, music (mostly baroque and classical), philosophy of mathematics, evolutionary algorithms, computer programming, logic, Japanese animation, and cooking. I'm going to dig some old game boxes out of the closet and scan their covers for game entries. Aside from that, I'm not sure what I've got to add. Most of the pages I've looked at from my research specialties are already pretty thorough. I suppose I could try my hand at translating articles from German into English. I took a course in German translation and I think I could pick it up again pretty quickly. Pwbrooks 07:10, 28 November 2005 (UTC)

editHello. I am Michael Sheldon Reed (SBM/35). I am a graphic designer living in Phoenix, AZ. I have been using Wikipedia off and on for about a year, and in the last month or so I have made minor edits to the articles on the Arizona Cardinals NFL football team, as well as the article on graphic design. Erzahler
editHowdy, I'm Paul. My username, Erzahler, is a pipe organ stop, so from this you can conclude that I am an afficionado of pipe organs. I also know something about Lymphedema, as I currently suffer from this disease. I am also a Ham Radio Operator and a devout fan of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy ("The Boys").
I know a little about a lot and a lot about a little!
Susan
editI'm an assistant in an academic library, and I have diverse interests, particularly in evolutionary theory and psychology, ethics, sociology, religion and atheism/freethought. I might also be able to write about libraries, North Carolina history, anime, and more.
I've done a little bit of anonymous copyediting in the past, and I decided I should get an account before I do anything more substantial. I hope I can contribute something of value! I'll try to be both bold and cautious as I learn the ropes. :)
CKA3KA
editI've been a user of Wikipedia for a while and just recently decided to see if I could lend a hand. I'm an unashamed enthusiast/nerd who is likely to be fascinated by just about anything that crosses his path. I'm particularly interested in languages and linguistics, ancient and medieval history, grammar, religion, home brewing, and literature. I'm a J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis fan from early childhood (I'm 38 years old, now), and have continued to return to those authors throughout my life. I also very much enjoy traveling, geography, geology, games of most sorts (though I must admit that team sports leave me cold), climbing, hiking, camping, alternative home-building techniques, horses, and Belgian beers. Though I live in Seattle, I was born in, and spent most of my life in, East Texas and have a deep and abiding interest in the history and culture of that fascinating and exasperating place.
Unfortunately, I have limited time in which to pursue my work with Wikipedia—just a few minutes here and there, stolen from whatever it is I'm supposed to be doing at the moment. So far, that's meant that I haven't had time to learn more complicated things—like moving articles, merging them, or performing deletions—and therefore have generally asked others to take care of these things when I've seen the need for them. (Is it just me, or are the help files for Wikipedia terribly Byzantine when it comes to things like this?)
I'm a copy editor by trade, and most of my contributions will almost certainly be related to grammar, punctuation, and word choice. I like the serial comma, but will seek to restrain myself. ;-)
I just learned about the Bootcamps when I started reading this page. If I can find the time, I'd like to use that resource some day. --CKA3KA (Skazka) 21:30, 30 November 2005 (UTC)
